We purchased a truck from Landmark about two months ago and found them to be fast talking and extremely sly at selling cars. The first red flair that went up was when the finance guy wanted me to sign the back page of the contract prior to reviewing the 1st page. When I stopped it and looked at the front page I noticed the selling price was almost $5000 more than the Internet price. When I questioned it, the finance guy, called in someone else to explain to me why that was like that; I thought I understood, but it didn't make sense the longer I thought about it. I called the dealership and had another person explain it to me, and then I understood. What they didn't tell me was the contract DID NOT include the sales tax. I went to the tag office today and they want to charge me over $4,000 to tag the truck. They should have informed me that the taxes weren't included and that I'd have to pay when tagging, but they didn't. I believe they tried to keep in the monthly payment range I wanted (even though it ended up being $150 more) and neglected to tell me about the taxes so it wouldn't be included in the financing and put me way over my price range. ??
The one thing I didn't mention is their ability to scam you into buying the Life Insurance; here's the story. ??After I purchased the truck I discovered they lied to me regarding the purchasing of Disability and Life Insurance. I wanted to purchase disability only, and was told the life insurance goes "hand in hand" with the disability; not true! I called he insurance company and asked them if it was necessary and they said no. I called the dealership back and they stuck to their story; go figure. I turned them into the Missouri State Insurance Commission and I received my response today. The dealership said I wanted the insurance; I'm already highly covered, so that's not true. The insurance company was nice to cancel the policy, and put the money back on my loan.
You're taking your chances going into this dealership. STAY AWAY!!!!!
