Editorial review from Citysearch 11/25/2013

The new customer service representatives are a bunch of rude racists. The previous representatives were excellent. I went to see ""12 Years a Slave"" and the cashier sold a white couple my seat and I was FORCED by that couple to leave. As I was leaving, someone uttered ""Fricking mulatto."" I find it fascinating that so many whites came to see the movie and I was treated like Rosa Parks. The ushers also forced three other black women out of their seats to the back of the theater. These representatives aren't wearing all black for no particular reason -- they are trying to make a statement. If you control the seats, you control the viewers. If you make a black person angry enough, then this will validate removal. However, being the professional ""mulatto"" that I am, I told the manager, who was also rude and condescending that I have an IQ of 165 and did not appreciate being treated like dirt because of my race. I'll bet she would fall over in a faint if she knew that 49.7 of my DNA is Caucasoid. Like so many of these new socialist businesses, they are trying to rid society of undesirables, and who is the most hated of all people on a global scale? The blacks. more

Beth Row (A) AFI (A++) 5/19/2010

although the previous posters make valid points and this is a nice place for Avangard films, I trully feel that AFI in Silver Spring is a little better. Not only does AFI show very simular films, often they have disscusions with the directors afterward. Well at least on certain screenings/opening nights. Often you'll find yourself, when watching on opening night that the box at the very back of the screening room is set aside for members of the embassy in which whatever director of the film's home country is from. Also AFI's snacks is a tad more upscale, not just popcorn and candy alone, but real food and BEER. Enjoy more

A place for serious films 4/17/2010

Our group of 24 has been meeting monthly for dinner and a movie for 20 yrs. Our goal is to select a movie that will be of interest to most and have ample material for discussion. We are from all corners of the metropolitan area. Bethesda Row is the place we most frequently meet as no other theatre offers the selection of quality films shown here. And...if you arrive early it's a great spot for people watching as well. This theatre deserves our support. more

Important Theatre 3/19/2010

For a supposedly sophisticated area, the MD suburbs have movie theatres mostly catering to the teen and slasher fan crowd. Bethesda Row Cinema isn't just a refreshing change, it's urgent and essential to cultural growth and enlightenment vis a vis cinema. Where else can you see edgy, intelligent, important movies made by sensitive, informed people like Roman Polanski, among others? Thank you, Bethesda Row! I drive from Frederick MD to see your films - a town we fondly refer to as "Fredneck." The theaters here reflect that name, although the fields and countryside are indeed lovely. more
