Buys from PuppyMill - Dots Little Doggies 12/24/2010

I almost purchased a miniature schnauzer from Land of Paws in OP on 12/22/10. When I asked about any genetic tests or VonWillebrand diesease I was told no testing was done since the dog was "Just Pet Quality"? Well, what difference does that make? Pet or show dog should have available testing done especially with the higher prices this store is charging for dogs. \r \r And then I was told this dog came from a reputitable breeder in Lyndon, KS when I asked if it was Dots Little Doggies the gal got a funny look and said yes. Well, if you look into Dots Little Doggies it is a large scale puppy mill. Over 600 dogs at times. That is just rediculous!! Not to mention the USDA violations.... no bedding for dogs in 18 degree weather and no heating pads plugged in. \r \r Glad I did some research before I let my heart make an unwise decsion. It's too bad, because the little pup was adorable. But I can't support the type of practices that this store knowling does to make a buck by buying from a puppy more

Great people who really care 7/17/2009

My elderly Sheltie would not eat. The staff gave me many sample bags of food so that we could try to see if she would like the food. Every time I went in I was asked about how our dog was doing. They truly cared. Our dog has since died and we are now getting another Sheltie from a breeder. It is so fun to go in to see what is new and cute for our new puppy. I will consult with them on what is the best food to feed her. It is expensive, but they carry thing you can't find anywhere else. It is a fun, family friendly place to visit. Pros: Great selection of products, very helpful staff, fun! Cons: Expensive, but quality more

Dogs 12/1/2008

Has everything you could need for your dog. Clothes, carriers, toys, jewelry, food, a onsite dog bakery. This is definately the place to spoil your dog. They also sell puppies! I like to go in and just play with the puppies that are just weeks old. more

Cute but Pricey 3/21/2007

Land of Paws caters mostly to dogs, with everything a dog could need -- toys, food, bedding, carriers, sweaters, rain boots, fashionable outfits and even bakery treats for your pet. They have a small area devoted to cats, with treats, toys and cat-related gifts. They also carry cat food and litter. Other animals (birds, rodents, etc) are out of luck. They also have greeting cards, including "loss of a pet" cards, which can be helpful, and offer grooming services. more

Good selection of products...but 8/3/2006

They do have a great selection of products, because its a botique pet store. But A poor selection of puppies. I went to visit there and It was very hot, not only that but so were the puppies, all of them were heavily panting. They were also kept in shredded paper, which is unsanitary and harmful if the puppies were to chock or eat it. No one came to help me or inform me about the puppies when I was looking at them, unlike other pet stores I've been to. When I asked to get one out and they opened the door in the back to get it, i saw about 3 or 4 dogs just running loose in the back. No one cleaned in between puppies and they allowed contact with the puppies together from different doggie kennels. What if one was sick and they didnt know it, well now theyll all get sick. They were very kind and did seem to love on the puppies. They were not informative at all and need to take better care of their animals! Pros: Very cute and wide variety of dog accessories Cons: Not good warranty, would be afraid of puppy being ill more
