Lana's Dance Studio

Personally, I would prefer this studio focus more on technique and less on learning a routine. The owner's daughter is well, abrasive and not very understanding. The costumes were too expensive for the family budget and I felt not enough individual attention was given to each student. Their website is not very informative and the black on red is annoying. My daughter has been dancing for Lana's for the past 8 years and has been on team for the past 6 years. It has great teachers who are devoted to what they do and treat every child the same. It is a friendly studio and everyone gets along with each other. Not only have my daughter's skills in dance improved, but she has also become a well rounded person. I would recommend this studio to anyone that wants to become a great dancer. more

My daughter joined Lana's at the age of 3 and has been dancing there for 10 years! When researching studios I was told Lana's was the best in the area and after 10 years I agree it is still the best in the Bay area! My daughter has been on the competition team for 6 years and continues to grow as a skilled dancer, team player, and loves every minute she spends at the studio and competing. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and so many nice kids and parents there. Lana and Leila bring out the best in everyones dancing capabilities as they are very skilled technicians and they do this in a caring and loving environment. The competition teams continue to take many overall awards for their dances which just confirms that the technique and skills learned are top notch. Lana and Leila and Angie also re-enforce the importance of studying and maintaining good grades, helping your family, being respectful and responsible. The dancers learn excellent time management skills! I love the partnership between the families, dancers and teachers at the studio. There are many optinal opportunities available here to do extra dance workshops and travel and all this has helped my daughter become more worldly and grow as a person/dancer. A highlight was our study abroad program to Australia last summer and we look forward to New York this year. Lana's is also well respected in our local community and the dancers perform at many local events showing their support. We are very proud to be associated with this fine studio! The only regret I have about Lana's Dance is not joining sooner! We have been with 2 other studios over the past 9 years and now enjoy and appreciate the difference of being with a well-run, professional and successful studio. As with any extracurricular activity, there is a time and money commitment. This studio is so well organized that all schedules and payments are set well in advance so you can choose the level of comittment you're comfortable with. Best of all, there is no time and money wasted on your investment! At previous studios we spent equal time and money for less training. Lana and Leila work just as hard as the dancers. Their commitment to proper training, exceptional choreographers (themselves, as well as hiring renowned talent) , and creating a warm and loving environment for the kids is commendable. At Lana's, I know my child is being trained properly. Nothing is more rewarding than watching your child's passion and hard work pay off; Lana's training is evident as the dancers always rank in the top tier at local and national competitions. more

I dance at Lana?s on the competition team, and it has been the best experience I have ever had. The instructors there provide students with proper technique and skills, and they also promote ideas and morals essential to our success later on in life. I called this studio a few months ago hoping for a combination class for my 4 year old aspiring dancer. I was a bit disappointed that I never got a phone call back. I did call again a few weeks later and still never got a call back. In the meantime, I have been researching other schools and found a good classical dance studio in downtown Morgan Hill. My daughter and I love it at Lana's dance studio. Lana and her daughter Leila have to be two of the nicest people you will ever meet. My daughter is new to the competition team this year. We have previously been at two other studio's that have not measured up to our standards. The minute we walked in the door we knew that we wanted to be part of the fabulous environment. Having been to other studio's I had no idea that Lana's was run as well as it is. There is never any hidden costs or extra practices. Everything is posted and nothing is left for surprise. The Lana Wright dancers have won numerous top awards this season, as well as in the past. . The competition teams are just an added bonus to this studio. What a positive environment Lana and Leila have made this year for our family as well as any other dancer that attends their studio. . Lana teaches not only dance technique and the imporancy of being part of a team, but self respect as well. We are so satisfied that we would not look anywhere else. I have been studying dance for many years. I recently have been interested in jazz and tap and contacted this studio for more information. I was very disappointed that they did not return my calls (I called twice) or emails. Their webpage did not include general information such as program offerings, class schedules, and type of syllabus used. Rather, it seemed to focus on the trophies and awards their instructors and students had won. Did not leave a good impression. I look forward to researching other studios. more

As a past customer of Lana's, I can say that it is all in what you are looking for. Lana's has been around for years and is run by Lana herself, and her daughter. If you are looking for a dance team that is focused on learning ""routines"", with very beautiful but VERY expensive costumes, Lana's is perfect. The program focuses on very traditional tap and jazz, with large group, ""Rockette like"" dance routines. This program is perfect for aspiring cheerleaders. Additional things to think about, Lana's is known to have a very political and sometimes negative environment for both parents and dancers :(\r \r If you are looking to focus more on variety of dance and proper technique training without the flash, make-up and glitz, you might be better looking elsewhere. There are many dance programs which offer performance opportunities & fabulous training in the south bay area. I feel as a Mom who studied Jazz and Ballet in the 60s/70s for 10yrs+ that Lana's offers wonderful instruction for youngsters on general dance technique. True, if you want classical ballet training (great if you are going for a troupe, otherwise overvalued) go elsewhere. The jazz and tap technique taught are excellent. Great owner, wonderful caring instructors, highly recommend Lana's Dance Studio! My 4 year old has blossomed before my eyes and I completely credit this wonderful caring studio. I just quit, but my experience was not a bad one. I am on this site to find a new school, but I have to say that even if they don't have great technique they are still a good school. My daughter has been dancing at Lana's since she was 3 years old. She is now 10. For the last 4 years she has been on the competition team and loves it! As a parent when you put your child in an after school activity/sport you hope that they are in a safe loving enviroment, especially when they are so young when they start as my daughter was. The teachers at the studio really care about the kids and this comes from what the owner shows herself. I never felt pressured into having to have my daughter move up to the competition team. The desire came from her seeing the girls on team dance. At competitions I am proud my daughter is a part of the Lana Wright Dance Studio. The quality of our dances from the choreography and technique to showmanship and costumes is something to be proud of. more

I grew up in this establishment and know the many life lessons that I learned throughout my years at Lana's. Many studios don't stress self respect, responsibility, and dignity. That is what this studio is based on. Lana's also taught me morals and values, this being said I can only comment on my experiences. I would never try to comment on other studios which I never received training at. Lana's doesn't condone bad mouthing nor drama. I had to laugh at some of the other reviews that commented on this very subject. I'm sorry but political and problems between students are never the case. The only problems that I have ever seen are between parents who can't be mature enough and get along. This all comes down to stage mommies being jealous! This is just not tolerated at this establishment! A business only flourishes under fair practices and this is one reason that Lana is celebrating her 29th year in business! \r \r I can also add that I went on to enjoy a successful career in dance which can only be credited to the great technique and performance training I received here. You cannot have a professional career in dance with poor technical training, sorry it just doesn't happen otherwise! \r \r It is very sad that many people in our small little dance community feel the need to bad mouth each other. Each and every studio is different and unique. Regardless of where someone fits in best doesn't give them the right to talk badly about other studios. I've been a competition dancer at Lana's Dance Studio for the past 3 years, and I love it. I've danced at other local studio's and I have to say I've been very impressed with Lana and her staff of highly trained dance teacers. There I've taken dance lessons from former Lana's dancers that are now professional dancers such as Rocketts, Broadway dancers ect.. At Lana's Dance Studio, not only have I learned great technique, but great life tips that I can use in the dance studio and in real life. Our competition team has won numerous awards including many 1st Overalls, Choreography Awards, Exellence Awards, Costume Awards, and Sportsmanship awards. Lots of flashy costumes, but not a place to learn dance if you want technique. If you want trophies and expensive costumes I say go for it! The facility is very nice and large, but the training is pretty poor if your child wants to do anything besides cheerleading. Not for the serious ballet student. If your interested in your child learning a dance routine, wearing a beautiful costume and participating in a dance recital than Lana's Dance Studio is the perfect studio for you. Lana's Dance Studio is perfect for an after school activity but if your child is really interested in formal dance training than Lana's Dance is not the place.
