Best

Great vegetarian food.

Worst

food was good. the order was over an hour late though. not sure whether to blame grub hub or LaLa's but my night was thrown off by the timing and I will definitely not order from...

Mollejas 1/15/2005

Although the place is not very authentic (no blood sausage available), the mix grill is great and they gladly substituted chicken with more mallehas (great grilled sweetbreads to die for). Pros: mollejas, patio more

Amazing! 6/9/2004

This was my first time at Lalas in a party that included two smokers, two non smokers and one vegetarian and we all walked away full and impressed. The dishes were great, generously sized and fresh, but the Steak Milanese, Salmon with Dijon sauce, mashed potatoes, sangria and their wonderful bread deserve special mention. The patio area was charming, the crowd eclectic, and service prompt. I look forward to my next visit. Pros: food, ambiance, patio more

Best Argentine Food 3/26/2004

I have a great time everytime I go. Their excelent menu is varied and tasteful. For more authentic Argentine food, you'll have to go to Argentina. Waiters are very prompt and always have a smile. Casual dining, the patio is very quaint, and as in any restaurant in LA expect a smoker in the outside patio. Great ambience, great for groups or a casual date. Leave room for the ""Panqueques con Dulce de Leche"". If you are not familiar with Argentine food, ask your waiter, I've noticed some people have the wrong impression of this country's food. Pros: great patio, inexpensive, good ambiance more

best to avoid 11/24/2003

The food is good, but there is better argentinean restaurants. The service is terrible and everybody smokes in the enclosed patio. Pros: decent food, cheap, good chimichurri Cons: bad service, lots of smokers, careless staff more

lala love you 8/18/2003

I had a hard time remembering Lala's name at first -- L.A. has Lola's, Lulu's, and probably a LoLo's or Lele's somewhere. That said, Lala's is one of the most reliable sit-down places on Melrose. Can't say I was bombarded with fierce Aregentinian flavor...more like tasty comfort food (breaded chicken with mozzarella and/or sauces, those famous mashed taters, lemonade). Still, great eats for the price. Two can dine for $25, easy. Pros: affordable, tasty Cons: not so native more

This does Argentinean food NO justice 8/6/2003

I've been lucky enough to have a true Agentinean meal and this place doesn't come close. What every you do don't order a steak (the main ingredient in all Argentinean food) with a salad because this will come soggy floating in salad dressing. Also don't expect good service. The smart lipped waiters will be spilling drinks and knocking into each other like a first day on the job. This was a waste of time and money don't make my mistake! PS. They don't have carrots! Pros: outside seating Cons: bad food, bad service, no carrots more

argentinian, melrose-style 6/13/2003

i'm not an argentinian food connoisseur so my opinion may not be as ""seasoned"" as others', but i have to say i'm impressed with lala's. delicious provolone, great mashed taters, and though i don't eat steak, it looks yummy. the sangria is to die for. flan is a great way to finish it up. wonderful location...walk up and down melrose to work off that meal. waitresses pleasant and pretty! Pros: location, great food, easy in/out Cons: can get loud more

Fun fun fun!!! 1/1/2003

This place is very fun. I LOVE the white wine drink they make at your table that's a lot like a white Sangria. It's awesome. The mashed potatoes are fantastic, and the deserts are to die for. The wait staff is very friendly and fun, too. Great place to meet a group of friends to unwind, relax and have some fun. Pros: Great outdoor dining, Friendly staff, Yummy wine drinks more

Ooohh LALA 8/19/2002

Tried Lala's my first night in W. Hollywood since a friend I was visiting works there. Had the Ravioli..not the most argentinan thing on the menu, but was delicious. The sauce was tomato and creamy and full of fresh veggies. The bread and Olive oil dip was also great. I would definitely reccomend this restaurant to anyone in the area. The prices are also extremely reasonable....less than $10 per meal. more
