Best

Great vegetarian food.

Worst

food was good. the order was over an hour late though. not sure whether to blame grub hub or LaLa's but my night was thrown off by the timing and I will definitely not order from...

Great food, awesome prize! 3/15/2007

I was at Lala's last night for my friend Rita's Bday and we had a great time! The food was amazing, I had the Suprema Napolitina and I can't emphasize quite enough how good it was! The best part was that the plate was huge and only $14 dollars!!! I have never ate this much, so good for such a low prize! The outdoor patio is really pretty, although a bit too dark. The server was really on top of everything and he really made sure we were having a good time. Thank you Lala's!!! we'll be coming bck soon! Pros: Food an prize. Cons: The patio is a bit too dark. more

Great Steak! Great atmosphere! 3/10/2007

My girlfriend and I first came here for a friend's bday party and loved it! The food is unbeatable - you won't get steak like this any where else. Plus the atmosphere is so chill - you can sit outside by the heating lamp. The sangria is excellent as well. The only thing I would criticize is that the service is kind of bad - it's average at best, but never really that bad. Just kind of slow. I wouldn't let it stop you from trying it out - I still go back all the time. Great place! Pros: Steak! Patio. Cons: Service isn't great. Parking is awful unless you valet. more

Great food and good service. 2/18/2007

Last night was my first time at Lala's and oh boy am I coming back!!! The food was great and the atmosphere is really cool and friendly. I had a skirt steak with a mushroom sauce that was to die for and the mashed potatoes were probably the best I have ever had! The outdoor patio is beautiful but sometimes it could get annoying with people smoking around you, but besides that I can truly say that Lala's will surely become one of my favourite places to dine out. Pros: The food is awesome. more

Best Argentinean grill in LA! 1/16/2007

Lala's grilled beef cuts (bife de chorizo, entrana) are excellent, just lightly marinated in chimichurri (mix of garlic, olive oil and parsley) and salt. The house salad is the perfect side, just iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and onions with a light dressing, or go for the mashed potatoes. The variety of starters also makes Lala's unique. The grilled molleja (sweetbread) with a dash of lime juice is amazing, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The provoleta (grilled provolone cheese), chorizo (argentinean sausage) or empanadas (baked pastry filled with ground beef) are pretty good too. And if you don't mind the intense sweetness of dulce de leche, have the pancakes or flan. Wines are a little pricy, but an $18 Trapiche Malbec is the best value for money in the wine list, and will complete the meal. I would say this is more of a $$ kind of place (and not a single $), but it's definitely worth it! Pros: Friendly Service Cons: Little Street Parking, Expensive Valet Parking more

Great steak at good prices 12/20/2006

My friends and just went to Lala's and we had a blast, the food was tasty and moderately priced, and the waitstaff was fun and accomodating. It is also a great place to go on a date, romantic with good food. Cons: great food more

MMMM 12/19/2006

lala's is soooo good! i love to sit outside on the huge patio and from start to finish its so good! from the simple bread with that o so good dipping oil with herbs in it to the pitcher of sangria to my favorite entree (cant remember the name, but it's a chicken breast covered in a mushroom sauce) to those awesome garlic mashed potatoes! the steak there is incredible. its just so good every time! Lala's is a good call anytime i cant decide wehre to eat... in fact, i could go for it right now! more

Great Steak 11/20/2006

Love this place! one of my favorite spots to meet friends for a feel good time. The steak is delish for a reasonable price. I'm jonesing for some just typing this! Pros: Good value more

One of my favorite places to eat unfortunately has some of the worst service I've ever experienced! 11/10/2006

Love this spot! Dining on the patio with a large group or eating solo at the bar--Never had a bad meal. Their specials are great. The grilled items, empanadas, saladsd, french fries, mashed potatos, wines by the glass are amazing and well-priced. Always in the mood for their menu. The bread/chimmichurri are going to fill you up so don't overdo it. Unfortunately, the service ain't too great. Be prepared for slow, ditzy [but good-looking] waiters. The Argentine staff however is friendly and on it however! Pros: Great food and large portions and nice crowd Cons: Service can be the worst ever. But I still go back! more

Casual Chic with the right price.... 9/18/2006

I've been coming to this place since it was a tiny little restaurant. It's now a very popular place among the younger, hipper crowd. Definitely a casual chic restaurant and the food is to die for. My favorite for many years is the Entrana El Champinion (skirt steak with mushroom and white wine sauce). It gets quite busy during the weekend so be prepared to wait a little. Pros: Good food Cons: Parking. Valet is available for a charge more

best skirt steak EVER 7/22/2006

i normally don't eat skirt steak, but lala's knows how to make it good - juicy and tender! we went on a saturday night for a birthday party with 30+ people and the service was excellent. really! our water cups were never empty and they got all our orders right. (well, it wasn't that complicated, we all pretty much got the entrana steak, but still, we were a HUGE party.) the white wine sangria was very sweet and by the carafe/pitcher ain't bad. if you get the entrana steak del ajo, make sure everyone gets it - the garlic firebreath afterwards isn't pleasant, haha, for those who didn't eat it themselves. the chimmichurri was delish, too! the patio seating area was obviously ideal for a huge party, but it was still pretty intimate. more

guaranteed to have a good time 6/29/2006

great food and atmosphere--and all the chimichurri you could want! i never get flan anywhere but order it here--its delicious. the crepe-like banana dessert is good too--dulce de leche on everything, please. even their basic sides--the rice, salsa and mashed potatoes--are fantastic. the place is always packed, even on weekdays. good place for a date--best time to go is right after sunset when the whole patio is lit by candlelight. yummy sangrias, nice & good looking staff. i like to take people here bc they have basic foods--chix, steak, pasta--that everyone will like with a lil extra something something. Pros: reasonable price, the sangria, the atmosphere Cons: parking--ill never understand the point of valet parking. i end up parking myself and still have to pay them. and they drive like manics. and sometimes leave your lights on. more

The Best 6/22/2006

This is the most amazing restaurant in Los Angeles. It is located on Melrose where you can choose so many restaurants... Pros: Atmosphere, patio, fun Cons: too inexpensive more

The best so far 4/7/2006

I have eaten in all the other argentine restaurants. I have also eaten in many steak hoses. I can say that Lala's prices quality and ambiance; is by far the very best. Great skirt steak, excellent flan, perfect sangria... I can mention many more items. When you go there, you will have a great time. Thanks Lala's. I enjoy you!!! Pros: patio, atmosphere, good looking people more

simple well cooked steak and mollejas 4/5/2006

This may not be an uberauthentic Argentine meal( I grew up there and have had my share of them), but it's a great place to get a well made steak that doesn't come in a stupid sauce and that you don't have to pay steak house prices for. The mollejas are usually quite good. It's not really a place to go expecting a special meal, though, just a place to get your dead cow fix. I usually get very good service, but it's probably because I speak Spanish. Pros: Steak, Mollejas, Good prices Cons: Sometimes crowded more

So So 2/28/2006

We choose to go to LaLa's on a Saturday night when it was rainy. We were sat on the patio, where most of the seating is. I have to say it was so so so dark. It was also really cold, which isn't really a problem in LA except at night. The food was really good, from what I could see of it. All of the steak had very genuine flavor and was cooked perfectly. Our waitress, while really sweet, was never available. Our drinks were empty most of the evening. I think I had a bad experience because it was cold, damp, and extremely crowded. I think on a good day, I may have enjoyed it a little more. Oh, and I reccomend making a reservation for the inside if it might be chilly, and plan on valet parking unless you get lucky and find street parking. Pros: food Cons: crowded, outdoor seating, service more

Best food, best prices, best quality 2/15/2006

My favorite restaurant. It has the most beautiful patio in Los Angeles. The atmosphere is the coolest. If you havent been there, you must try it!!!! more

Hit or Miss 11/24/2005

I've been to Lala's several times and sometimes the food is good and sometimes it's not. Last time I was there I had the half chicken. It was beyond overcooked. Fortunatly it was only $10. The time before, a large group of us split the meat platter and it was awesome, as were the mashed potatoes. The outdoor patio has a lively atmosphere. The service is always so-so. The wine list is disappointing, but the sangria makes up for it. Overall I say go with low expectations and you may be pleasantly surprised. Pros: patio, price Cons: inconsistent food, $5 for parking more

Aweful Atmosphere 6/28/2005

LaLas is loud and unpleasant. The open-kitchen disturbs your meal with plate crashes, servers shouting and phones ringing. The seating is cramped and uncomfortable. The bussers push carts of dirty dishes right past you through the dining area to the back room for washing. It was impossible to hold a conversation in this place, and it wasnt even a busy night. The service was slow and not very good, we were there for an hour and didnt get one drink refill. The food was ok.but just ok, not better than Gauchos, just ok. It didnt make up for the awful atmosphere. Our ears were ringing when we left and we will not be going back. Cons: Loud, Cramped, Slow more

Good Food- Bad Experience 5/13/2005

I enjoyed Lala's food and thought it was overall a nice place to go out. However, when my large group was ready to leave we were handed a pile of papers with items and prices scribbled on them with no coherent patern and it was almost impossible to make out who owed what. Everyone put in more than they should have with plenty left for a generous tip, but then the manager came out after us to complain that we had not left more than 10 %. Most places will add the tip for large groups, which they say they apparently forgot to do, and besides, we were positive that we had not stiffed the staff. Ultimately, asking for a bigger tip, there fault or ours, is absolutely rude and unacceptable. It was the worst ending to a nice time out and left a terrible taste in my mouth. Pros: mashed potatos Cons: rude manager more

LOVE IT 4/29/2005

Its my favorite restaurant in L.A. - Every time is absolutely fantastic! Definite 10 out of 10! The bread and dip rocks and the Entrana steak is the best I've ever had. I really cant speak highly enough of this place. Pros: Food, Price, Service Cons: None, None, None more
