If you love your pet, do NOT go to Dr. Gonzalez. She's just not good at her job.. she's incredibly unprofessional and very rude. Don't just take my word for it.. look up other reviews (more like horror stories) and you will see that I am not just one customer who had a bad experience.. more

On a Thursday we found our 2 mini rex rabbits paralyzed in their cage. I immediately called Lakeside Animal Hospital after they were referred by another animal clinic who didn't treat rabbits. Panicked but In good faith I called there and was told the doctor is in with a patient but I'll be called back. It took almost an hour! We then we told we could come by. We spent over 3 hours there and the doctor told us that our rabbits might have eaten a neuro-toxin. Apparently she had researched the symptoms on google and gave us a whole bunch of print-outs with plants to avoid in the future. The technician then tried to get us into doing some blood work, urine tests etc but the estimated price (over $ 800.00) was a bit too high esp. since she couldn't explain how these tests could be helpful. But I was told 'don't make such big eyes' when she showed me the estimate. In the end we were send home with critical care food and an antibiotic (and still a $ 400.00 bill) The next day (Friday) our rabbits weren't any better so I called and let them know. The receptionist told me I would be called back. They didn't. On Monday my rabbits were still paralyzed and distressed so I called another vet. She saw us immediately and diagnosed them with E.C. - a parasite that effects the nervous system. In order to provide appropriate treatment she called Lakeside Hospital to look at their papers and see how my rabbits were the first day they fell ill. To authorize a release of the information I had to talk to them. The receptionist was in a foul mood and asked me why I hadn't called them first and that I could have had another appointment there. (Really? After you didn't care to call me when I had an emergency?) The sad end of this story is that we buried our rabbits yesterday because the treatment came too late. Can't recommend this place at all. (Dr. Rush of Hanover Green Veterinary Clinic is excellent with rabbits if you need a good vet.) more

I've taken several of my animals to Lakeside Animal Hospital over the years. I have several exotic pets so it becomes difficult to find veterinarians who have both the knowledge and comfort level to work with my animals. Over at Lakeside, they are great with my pets and they're wonderful at keeping me updated on what my guys are going through when they have to stay over night (that is more than I can say for most vet clinics). However, I must say that I recommend going over itemized bills when you go to pay for everything. Last time I took in one of my animals, I was charged $150 for an x-ray that I was told we didn't need to do...and that I specifically said NOT to do. Apparently, they decided to do it anyway. When I first paid the bill, it seemed a bit high, but my pet had been there for two nights and I thought nothing of it until I saw the x-ray charge. So, I called Lakeside and explained the situation...and, just like that, ending on a positive note...they willingly corrected the issue. Overall, they are a great clinic that provides great care for my pets. Ask for itemized bills, and I don't think you'll have any problems. I still recommend them to my sister and anyone who asks for suggestions for exotics vets. more

This the vet I use and I can't say enough good things about them. They're compassionate and really love animals...something that is becoming rare in veterinary medicine. They also exhaust every possibility to get to the bottom of a health problem, and are very good about working within your budget to correct the problem. I also love the price matching: the vets here would much rather be sure you're getting good quality medicine for your animals than make a killing selling them. Even if I lived in the West end, this is a vet I would drive across town to use. more

We are pleasantly pleased with Lakeside Animal Hospital in the care for our new puppy. She is a pure breed Lhasa Apso and they have been knowledgable about her breed. The staff is nice and helpful with questions. more

I am the proud owner of various small animals, the kind you don't normally find in your everyday house hold. Exotic pets, most people call them. Anyways, it's hard to find a good vet with the know-how to care for these little guys, so I was glad to find Lakeside animal hospital. They are friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Dr. Gonzalez is the best I took my previous cat to Lakeside Animal Hospital on the recommendation of my sister, who had been taking her cats there previously. It was a bit of a distance for me to drive but totally worth it as they treated me and my little darling with respect and compassion. When I had to have my cat put down last year, they gave us both the utmost care - even sending me two sympathy cards - one on the last day I brought her in and a second on the day I picked up her cremains. Shortly thereafter I acquired a new kitten from the pound and have trusted them with his care since. I wouldn't go elsewhere. more

Our experience with Lakeside Animal Hospital spans 19 yrs. back to the time of Dr. Lickey. Back in those days (early 1990s) the small-town, know-your-neighbor feel was very comforting & prices were reasonable. As time advanced, Dr. Lickey passed away and the practice was sold. At some point new veterinary marketing techniques began to creep in & their prices escalated; however, we found Dr. Gonzales to have exceptional skills & confidence in performing surgical care for our pet's unique problem, care that other vets in this area were extremely reluctant to perform. We're forever grateful for her ability to preserve the health of our nearly 19 yr old cat in spite of his chronic condition. Dr. Gonzales is tops on our list and I'll admit that without her being there, we would likely go elsewhere in search of good care at more reasonable prices. It takes unique people & animal skills to be able to connect well with the "people owner(s)" of "animal patient/pet(s)" and put all involved at ease, especially in emergency cases. We really value the long-term continuity of care we've had with Dr. Gonzales for our old fuzzy guy who'll be celebrating the Big "Two-Oh" with a block party if he survives to this time next year! more
