First off, let me say that Dr. Lach is a fabulous salesman, but that’s about it. If you live in the Oviedo area it’s hard not to know of him, he has advertising everywhere; billboards, flyers, commercials, etc.
When you first go in for your consultation, you meet his entire staff, tour his office and Dr. Lach explains that he will be there during every step of your treatment and he promotes his “open office” (all the dental chairs are in one room and arranged in a semicircle). Unfortunately, this charade is not what his office is really like. During my entire treatment I saw Dr. Lach three times; during the consultation (obviously, during his sales pitch), when my braces were put on (for a total of 30 seconds), and on my second to last visit (he quickly glanced at my teeth and told me that my braces were almost ready to be removed). For the rest of the time my teeth were worked on by his assistants, mainly Angel and that “open office” is really just code for an assembly line.
Unfortunately, being the age that I was (16) I was capable of taking myself to appointments and I was certainly a lot less outspoken than I am now, so the entire time my mother was never aware that something was wrong (she believed that I was seeing Dr. Lach during every visit) and being that braces are usually something that you only go through once, I wasn’t sure what was normal and what wasn’t.
My biggest issue came with the removal of my braces. Of course, my braces were removed by one of his many assistants and every time one of my brackets were removed the assistant had a worried look on his face. Yes, I was slightly worried and in pain, but all my classmates told me that the removal process would hurt and I just ignored this thought and focused on how great my smile would look ( I was 16, what else do you expect?). What I didn’t realize was that every time he was cracking one of those brackets, he was also cracking/chipping every single one of my teeth. If it were a licensed orthodontist removing my braces and not an assistant, I feel that this wouldn’t of happened.
Now at 23, I am completely disgusted with Dr. Lach, his entire staff, and the condition of my teeth. I truly regret ever going his office. I can full heartedly say that that decision was one of my biggest regrets. Unfortunately, there is no simple fix for the damage that has been caused to my teeth. My current dentist can’t even file my teeth to make them more even, because he fears that they will be too short. I fear my only answer will be veneers.
Like I said, Dr. Lach is a fabulous salesman, but that’s about it. Please don’t make the same mistake that I did and please don’t be allured by the rest of these one line reviews, they seem fake for a reason. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
