La VIta Dolce is like second home 2/4/2009

I have the good fortune to live close by, so I can come for my coffee or gelato almost every day. The turning point for La Vita Dolce was about two years ago, when it acquired new owners. Gone are the white walls - the place now has the cozy feel of a neighborhood coffee shop, a place where locals come to meet, eat, have coffee and/or work. Theirs is the best wifi in the area (I know, I tried everything around there). more

I agree with the previous reviewer that this place is awful... but, Sugarland isn't the only other place in town to get good gelato. There's a place in Cary (can't remember the name) that's good (albeit, inconsistent sometimes) and there's a place at Southpoint Mall (oddly enough, also called LaVitaDolce). I don't think they're related, though? The one in Southpoint is fantastic - excellent gelato, great drinks, great atmosphere. Definately recommended! Pros: Free wireless. Cons: Awful gelato. Awful drinks. Bland atmosphere. more

Just plain awful... 7/11/2008

Friends live in Southern Village and we went for an evening walk and decided to stop in for some gelato. Having been to Italy, I couldn't even believe they had the audacity to call their product gelato. It was grainy and icy and most of the flavors had mushy cookies on the top or cheap american style candies like m&ms and gummy worms. Then when they served it they shoved a stale 'nilla wafer in it. I didn't finish mine. For real gelato, the only place in town is Sugarland. I just wish you could park downtown. more
