La Petite Academy

This place is going down hill fast! Don't bother the DM she is not very helpful. My child is always placed in a classrom with children that aren't even her age. I would not recommend this place since the New Director took over, she is not friendly, never says hello, most the staff are gone and the others are in the process of leaving. I use to love this place, not so much anymore. I removed my child! more

Being new to the area and going back to work for the first time since my youngest child was born, I stopped in unannounced and asked to see their program. Coming from a family where my mom was a daycare owner, I knew what to look for when it came to a quality program. I really loved the layout of this place. There were so many laughing children, smiling teachers, and curriculum was evident in every class. I was very impressed when the Director asked me what was important to me when it came to my childrens care. She was really in tune with what I was looking for. She explained every program they offer, she even explained the curriculum for every classroom from top to bottom. I was so excited after leaving this center, I called and enrolled the same night. more

I love this place. The Staff is warm & inviting. My grandchild goes to this school and she loves it. Everytime I go to pick her up she actually cries when she has to leave. The Toddler teacher is amazing. She actually has them doing their ABC's and counting everyday! This place is top notch. The new Director has really turned this place into a fun learning environment. I recommend this place to all families looking for a high quality, education based program. more

I was sceptical about putting my children in childcare, but this place really changed my mind. My wife first took a tour here, she loved it and when the Director invited her back with her Husband, that was really impressive. The Director really has a sense of family values and it shows in this center. There is artwork done by the children evident on every wall in the center. The teachers all welcomed me & my wife while touring. My children loved seeing all the kids doing activites. They actually said they wanted to stay and play with the other kids. I am so glad we decided to tour here and find out for ourselves how this facility operates. more

My child attends LaPetite Gem Heights and I am glad that I choose this Pre School.\r After touring many facilites in the area, I was very impressed with La Petite. The Director is very professional and the staff were all very welcoming. The children were outside playing and they all were having a great time. The building was exceptionally clean and organized and they had an abundance of things to do in each classroom. I would highly reccomend this Pre School to anyone who is looking to prepare their child for school. more

I have called this center on SEVERAL occasions 3 or 4 times requesting information on enrollment and fees and each time told someone will call me back. I have never received a call back. I even stopped by on one occassion for a tour of the school. The staff member just showed me around and did not explain anything to me regarding class structure or curriculum. After the "tour" I asked her for information about prices. She reported all the information was on the computer and that it was in use right now and that they would take my name and phone number and call me with the information. AGAIN no return call. more

This facility is very unsanitary. I can say that it does get "cleaned" daily, but not more than a mop ran across the floor. The teachers DO bark orders at the children, all of the time. The children in Kids Station are often told to "sit on the carpet and be quiet." Rediculous. They should have set activities so this room is not out of control. The director is extremely disrespectful to most of the staff, the children and many parents. Go ahead, ask some of them. Not only that, the director has no background in managing such a big job! Some of the teachers have been seen off in the corner talking to other teachers for a half an hour at a time without giving any attention to the children. The previous two year old teacher, who became the AIM was caught forcing an child (by carrying him) of an employee (at the time) to go to another class besides his own while kicking and crying. First, class rooms are pretty dirty, especially floors and bathrooms. Children's bathroom floors had urine and used toilet paper on them. Child toilet seats had urine splashes or fecal matter smeared on them. No one would clean in between uses. When soap dispensers were broken, kids couldn't get soap because alternative dispensers were not provided or were within their little reach. Other daycare centers did a much better job of keeping their classes and kids clean. On two different occasions, I saw a staff member spraying a spray bottle solution of bleach and water onto a table while a child was sitting and eating his food there. I could see wet areas where the solution landed near his plate of food and his arms! Second, I observed the lead teacher of the 3-4 year olds and other staff barking orders at the children instead of taking the time to organize the children (especially during activity transitions) and to minimize distractions.
