I was referred to Dr Mester by my primary care physician for jaw pain and a clicking sound in my ear. He said he couldn't do anything for my problem, but while looking up my nose said ""Can you breathe?"" I said no, not really, and he said he could fix that. I had never had surgery before but he made it seem like no big deal. He said I could have the surgery on a Friday and return to work on Monday.
It was a long time ago, but as I recall the surgery went as planned except that there was no way I was fit to work on Monday, When I went to have the packing removed, Dr. Mester proudly told me that he doesn't pack the nose as most surgeons do. He said he devised his own ""splint"" and he feels it worked better. He then proceeded to pull the ""splints out of my nose, wipe them off and show me. They were shapes hand-cut from tennis ball cans lids! One said ""Wilson"" across its surface.
There was no follow-up scheduled.
It took a long time for my nose to heal, so by the time I realized that the surgery had not helped me, quite a while had passed. My nose was still very difficult to breathe through but also ever since the surgery I feel like there is a bunch of scar tissue in there and my nose is itchy and irritated alot. The surface inside my nose is irregular from where the splint was stitched on through my septum.
I don't want to have it redone. I just want to write a review so that Dr. Mester knows that his ""experiment"" is not successful just because he doesn't see a patient back in his office. I don't appreciate having a doctor experiment with makeshift products on me when packing the nose is a tried and true technique.
