Editorial review from Citysearch 3/12/2013

For anyone that is looking for a trustworthy school I strongly recommend this facility. My son has been attending this school since he was an infant. The teachers there are very caring, understanding and mostly of all they truly take the time to take care of your child. The facility is imaculate and clean. The children are taught to sing, dance, and most of all to be independent. They help them with homework and read to them everyday. The children have many activities throughout the day in which help them become independent. I thank the teachers there for doing a great job in assisting me to raise my child to be a great student in school. He truly enjoys going to La Palme Peppertree everyday. more

Happy Child, Happy Parents!! 3/14/2012

My husband and I had to write a review in favor to this preschool. We have our daughter here since she was an infant and now she's 3 years old. We love this preschool!! It has a warm, cozy and family oriented feeling and that's exactly what we were looking for our daughter. We have other relatives that have their kids in this school too and they're also very happy. We appreciate the love and concern the staff has always showed my family. Thank you Pepper Tree!! more

Lovely Preschool & Staff!! 3/14/2012

I currently have my two children at this school and it makes me very sad to read some of the negative comments people have post. I have carefully inspect this school and many others in the area and feel confident and comfortable that my children spend most of the day at this facility. I m very happy with the staff, curriculum, hygiene and the quality of care my children receive. more

Terrible ownership 2/2/2012

Irma (the owner) is so cold as a person. She completely rubs me the wrong way about having my daughter there. It's almost as if she's giving us a hint that we're not paying her enough to deal with our child. She's constantly questioning about my daughter's eczema as if we aren't taking care of our baby at home. It's really offensive! She pushes us to bring Benadryl for our daughter to knock her out during the day - to make it easier for her, no doubt! I wanted to punch her in the face when she said that. We do NOT drug our children for our own benefit, who does she think she is?!? more

Help! Please comment if you posted earlier reviews about this facility or share similar experiences 8/13/2008

Urgent. A dear friend suggested this idea: please ""comment"" below if you wrote any of the prior reviews about La Palma Peppertree or if you had negative experience(s) with the child care service provided. This urgent request expires 09/14/08. Be truthful. Be fair. And please elaborate. The public records on this facility is very telling. But do you have personal thoughts, observations, and/or experiences about the daycare that you'd like parents/friends to know? If you ask before 09/14/08, I will explain why. Thank you for your attention. Pros: the teenage aides, outside layout, cleanliness Cons: the records and the past reviews say enough more

Seems all well and pretty except for the care your kids may be getting 4/22/2008

I saw the ""signs"" along the way: the childcare licensing evaluator/agent had nothing good to report about the daycare, the preschool teacher yakking away on her cell phone with her back turned to the kids running/playing in the room when I dropped off my girl, childcare being provided by aides and not teachers, Spanish being exchanged when the staff thought we shouldn't hear the subject, Maggie (infant room) always seeming to complain about her job, aides shifting locations when I entered the premises (to cover any short staffing), aides fearing to talk openly about their experiences there (esp. within earshot of the teachers), them cancelling the Christmas program without any notice to parents who left work early and drove distances for it, the gate to the building being locked before closing time and my child still inside, their number calling me as ""Blocked ID"" (why would they block the ID?), etc., etc. We should have heeded the warnings before it was too late... Pros: I'm still thinking... Cons: want aides caring for your kids? how about 15 kids to one teacher? Lies. Violations. more

place looks great; some of the instructors/supervisors are good, but check their history of complaints/citations 1/4/2008

I called the licensing agency (714-703-2800) about this place a little late, after I had already placed my kid in their care. According to the agent on the phone, this child care center has a ""chronic problem"" of exceeding the state-regulated maximum ratio of 12:1 for toddlers and 4:1 (kids:supervisors or aides). I saw these violations myself at least three times in three months during the minutes I was their to drop off my child. I also saw a boy in the 12-24 month old room being left ALONE twice in the span of two weeks confined in a high chair in the corner of his room while the rest of the class was outside playing. He was within eyesight of the supervisors in charge of the infant room, but still: he was isolated in a high chair for who knows how long. He wasn't my kid but I had to tell and called the licensing agency. The site visit by the agent found something else: there was no supervisor in that boy's room at all, for two weeks straight, only aides. This resulted in a $300 fine the following day. Pros: Looks great. Cons: call the licensing agency 714-703-2800; not a pretty picture; not enough parking space more

Clean facility, cited several times recently, questionable supervision and ratio. 12/30/2007

Irma, the owner/manager, is the most defensive, retaliatory daycare service provider I've ever encountered. She manages this clean, sculpted facility like a dictator--my encounters with her left an awful taste in the mouth each time because she consistently distorted any comments I made and bared her claws and fangs. She emphasized every time that she and her staff can do no wrong, despite the history of citations. Pros: Clean, well-equipped grounds, well-decorated classrooms; looks like a place for kids Cons: Parking is challenging at rush hour, owner dishonest and pugnacious, staff not happy more
