I have been going to La Jolie for several years and I have finally had enough - I will never go back there again. Each time I find a stylist I like from among the many they have to offer, she leaves and I have to start over with someone new. This last visit to La Jolie, with a new stylist, was a disaster. I asked the woman to cut my hair to shoulder length, but she did not do what I asked. Instead, she cut my hair down to only about 1-2 inches on the back of my head and by the time I realized what she was doing it was much too late - all my hair was on the floor. I was in shock. She openly acknowledged that this was not the length or style I had asked for, but insisted that it would look "really good". The woman was very nice, but I would rather have a rude stylist who actually gave me the cut I asked for.
The management at La Jolie was very responsive when I contacted them about this issue, and they did refund my money for the cut. In this instance, the business side of La Jolie responded commendably (but, ultimately, I have a hair style that I am unhappy with and I do not think I could trust their salon with my hair again). But, I, like other raters, have also had trouble with the business aspect of La Jolie in the past. I also had an occasion where La Jolie informed me they were going to charge more money than initially agreed AFTER the services had been rendered and I had no opportunity to say, "Oh, no thank you then, I'll go somewhere else." I find this to be a very deceptive practice and I have never had a problem like this at other salons.
Ultimately, you can probably get a good haircut from La Jolie, but I'd caution that you need to go in prepared to fight for what you want. Do not let them start cutting until you have double- or triple-checked that the stylist understands what you want done that they know they *do not* have liberty to do something else. And make sure to ask up front what they are going to charge you and demand that they honor that agreement when you get to the checkout.
