HORRIBLE Customer Service at the Everett gym!! 7/15/2011

I've been a member with LA Fitness shortly after the doors opened in their Mill Creek, WA (approximately 3 years) location and started attending the Everett, WA location the same day the doors opened. My wife decided she wanted to join under my account, so she went in to inquire about it. There was a promotion going on that wasn't supposed to end for a few days, so she decided to join based on that promo. Well, after all her info was input into their system, the rep tells her that the system was allowing the code to go through, so she wouldn't be able to benefit from that promo. She decided to put it on hold and discuss it with me. I called the gym to inquire about it and they said that no one was available at the time and Harald would call me back. Well, Harald never called back (even after multiple calls to the gym for him), so I called again and asked for the manager. Surprising, Harald now became available since I was escalating to a manager. So after the phone conversation not going anywhere, we decided to go in and speak with Harald. He said basically the same thing the other rep said, so we finally decided on a membership that sort of worked. I really do felt that they were just trying to lure customers in with the promo and not honor it. If the system wasn't honoring the code at that time, then they should have applied it once they figured it out on their end. The manager Matthew never called back either (after leaving him a few voicemails). After some time, my wife began traveling often, so we felt the membership wasn't needed. I called in to the local gym to cancel (because they have it designed where a customer can't cancel online, over the phone, or call into membership services to do it). After speaking with Mike, he said that I would have to physically come into the gym and fill out a cancellation form. I asked him if it could be faxed to me and I fax it back in...his reply was no, you have to physically come into the gym to do it. I told him that it sounded like LA Fitness wants customers to come into the gym so they can try and bargain about the cancellation and possibly more high pressured sales tactics. Mike's reply was ""Are you kidding me, do you think we're going to high pressure you over a $29 membership, come on now"" (and that's word-for-word). I immediately asked for a manager because Mike obviously thought he was talking to one of his boys on the block! Well, Harald gets on the phone and poses as the manager. I specifically asked Harald if he was the manager (I already knew he wasn't and that Matthew was) and his reply was yeah, sort of. I immediately asked him for corporate's number because I didn't appreciate asking for the gym manager and getting one of Mike's peers to pose as the manager. Harald's reply was that there wasn't a number to contact corporate. Really, do you expect me to believe that the reps in the Everett gym are the end-all be-all for LA Fitness! Gym- money pump. 6/9/2010

When I firstly came to this club I told manager that I would like to have two month pass, because I was gonna leave the US in two month, he came across friendly at that moment... However in a month I found out I had a payment listed for LA Fitness on my online banking. So i went to talk to manager to clarify this. he addressed me to my contract and his previous friendly attitude had gone! It was writen there that I had to cancel it at least 20 days prior to my monthly charge. In other words I in fact had to cancel it 10 days after I signed contract. Why didn't he print me then cancellation from the very same day I signed a contract? He was well-aware of that I needed it for two months only, yet pretending he misheard me or I misunderstood him. \r I was surprised that many of my friends has the issue dealing with them. The didn't even mention any kind of reimbursement. The worst gym I've ever seen.\r Pros: not frendly attitude, too dificult to sign off, extracharges Cons: I do not want to contact them anymore! more

How we're given the shaft 6/9/2010

I happened to get a couple free week-passes to this club and decided to try it out with my lady. We drove up there by 9 in the evening. The fitness attendant who signed week-passes was so kind as to show us the club and everything had been going alright until the moment, he talked to a senior manager. They immediately made up a story of that week-passes only work until 8 p.m. and that I wouldn't be able to give it a try that day (despite the fact that the fitness was almost empty that time and they could certainly meet my wants considering the fact I had taken all training stuff with me and intended to work out). Then from bad to worse I was told that I had already seen the gym and I didn't need to try it out thereof. lol The other guy came over and told he had seen my lady in this club before (the standard move) so we couldn't use free weekly trial, which was a blatant lie. It was like a horrible actors theater... :) They pinned me down to facts: either I sign their contract or go away. With that kind of managers approach I had no choice as to leave them immediately. Really... if they lie from the very start how can one do business with them?! Pros: technically well-equipped fitness at neighbourhood Cons: befooling people seem to be their hallmark more

Great Place to get Ripped Off! 4/11/2009

After cancelling my account with LA Fitness, they still continued to take out money without my knowledge, (and more than I had originally been paying on top of it). I was having troubles with my bank as I was not getting my statements and couldn't access my online account. so I had no idea this was going on until I finally worked things out with my bank and got my statement saying I had paid $304 to LA Fitness whom I had cancelled at least nine months prior! Yeah, so needless to say I had a bone to pick with them. They told me I had cancelled only part of my contract, but I was still on contract with the trainers...which I don't recall signing a contract for, only the gym (my signature didn't look right). Even if I had signed it, I would've been getting overcharged for my sessions, plus when I had been going to the trainers, I paid BY THE SESSION. Then I noticed the codes for my gym membership didn't match, I had two for the gym itself and another for the trainers...they could not explain to me why that was, and also someone had been using one of my codes to attend the gym, and they acknowledged this and still did nothing. I demanded a refund of my money, they denied it of course, but offered me the sessions I'd paid for for free, but I was going to be moving to Colorado and they have no LA Fitness there so I wasn't about to accept that. They said they would talk to their higher ups and get back to me...they never did. Even when I made numerous calls and left my name and number, and even came into the gym. They avoided me at all costs, never called me back. Those crooks owe me almost $3,000! I'm in the military so it's not like I have the money to file suit against them, I'd be losing more than I'd be getting back. Not even the Navy can offer it's legal services since I just came off Active Duty. I just shutter to think what would have happened if I were out to sea or overseas where I couldn't cancel my card like I did... I just think it's really GREAT the way they treat military personnel, it's not like we ever did anything good for them... Pros: ??? You tell me Cons: They will steal your money more

Brand new! Equipment top of the line! 3/22/2008

I have been a member of La Fitness for 2 weeks now and I love it. I was going to Bally's in Everett because I had a free 8-week membership. When it expired I talked with the manager and wanted to see what they could offer. The deals they had were.... NOT deals. The lowest he could go was $75 to start and $34 per month to use just the Everett gym (it would have been more if I wanted to use other locations.) Plus you have to pay for some of the classes! That was not going to work with my budget. I had been a member of the Millcreek La Fitness when they first opened, but quit because I was not using it. I decided to check out the new LA Fitness at the mall and see what they had to offer. I was offered a MUCH better rate! It was lower than the one offered to me at Ballys and I am able to use any LA Fitness in ANY location! Also, ALL classes are included with the membership fees! They even have a full size swiming pool and full size basket ball court. My only complaint is the kids club hours. They are opened from 8am to 12pm then CLOSED until 4pm! They open up again at 4pm and close at 7 or 8pm. That closure is hard with my hours, but that is a minimal issue. The rate for childcare is great! You can pay $10 monthly for unlimited use or you can pay by visit. I totally recommend at least checking it out! Pros: Full size pool, Full size basketball court, NEW equipment, ALL classes included in fee Cons: Childcare hours more
