The Best! 3/11/2004

La Casa de Pedro is our favorite! We eat there 1-2 times a month and enjoy it everytime. Having tried most of the dishes on the menu, we have only been disappointed once. Iwas just a bad night for the kitchen and staff. It happens. Pedro greets us everytime, service is attentive, and food supurb. Must start with the empanadas and end with the coconut flan for the ultimate food experience. The wait can get long after 7pm, but we always opt for the 2 seats at the bar to watch the kitchen do their magic ! Can't skip this place! more

Expected much more... 1/16/2004

I heard many comments about it so decided to try it with some guests: convenient location, good parking, average waiting for table. On the food, was good although not great as I was expecting: good paella (probably the best value), average churrasco (sorry Pedro, definitively NOT best in Boston as menu says), and other entrees just ok. Now the point where it really fails: LOUSY SERVICE !!! no high chairs for children, menu never arrived, had no silverware for about 10 min. after food was brought, so decided to stand and get it, to discover the staff chatting at the register, had no water served during all dinner, as a matter of fact, nobody showed up at the table at all, and on top, tip was forcedly included on the tab, We were so willing to leave the place that we did not even argue ! Probably a bad experience... Pros: Location/Parking, Paella Cons: SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE more

superb 6/16/2003

I've been dining at Pedro's since '98 - predating the snazzy dining room features you see now, back when ALL the food was cooked in the restaurant section, before downstairs, and when 1/2 the dining room was dominated by a large deli-style glass cabinet that featured fish and desert. Pedro fit maybe 8 tables in there. The food is more sophisticated now, and there are fewer deserts - but I still can't get enough. The yucca is still stupendous, unique in the Boston metro area. Eeverything is delicious. Best of all, Pedro still runs the show. In fact, he still remembers me - on the times when I've appeared with a date, and he was there, he appeared with a new concoction in hand, welcoming me back and asking my date's opinion. Thank you, dear man, thank you. If you like spanish food and love elegant food, you'll adore Pedros. Pros: yucca, charm, quality Cons: slow service more

Very Good! 1/18/2003

The food was great! The portions were large and the prices were more than reasonable. We were quite impressed with the quality of the food. The server was very nice. more

Little Venezuela in Watertown 12/11/2002

Great service, incredible food, good prices! The chef came out to talk to us, and the food was authentic, creative and fresh. They've shortened the name to ""La Casa de Pedro"" too. Pros: Inexpensive, Authentic Venezuelan, Great service more

Bueno! 8/25/2002

The food at Pedro's is utterly fantastic. Authentic Venezuelan (think Cuban meets Jamaican). Everything was well seasoned, even the stuff I asked for extra hot. Yummy. more

Jackpot 6/13/2002

I had an absolutely fantastic meal here. Pedro himself came out to make sure our group was enjoying our meal. Nice touch! We had an assortment of great entrees: paealla, flank steak, veal, sea bass, salmon. All were great, cooked to perfection. The entrees that promised to deliver a little kick of flavor certainly lived up to their promise. Accompaniments were also tasty. When his plate arrived in front of him, one of my buddies looked down and responded ""Jackpot"" and it was. All they need is a larger dining room (although the patio certainly helps) so that all the hungry people can feast. The waitstaff was very outgoing. Even the line cooks and busboys cheerfully wished us well as we headed out. Pros: Fantastic Food, Friendly staff, local Cons: small more

Fantastic 6/4/2002

The generous portions melt in your mouth. The small wine list is chock full of reasonably priced selections to compliment your meal. The ""mixed grill"" type option lets you sample a bit of everything: great for a first timer. The fish is the freshest and perfectly seasoned. Hats off to Pedro! The only area for improvement is in seating: they need more space. If they can't expand, at least suggest the hostess give reasonable estimates for waiting times. The patio should alleviate some of this during the summer. Pros: Food is great, wine list, good service Cons: small, bad seating estimates more

WOW!!! 5/30/2002

Generous portions of uniquely styled Venezualen food at a reasonable price. This place has it all (except for a larger dining room-- with the ice cream store gone next door, any chance you could expand, Pedro?) The owner is there everyday and regularly comes out to greet his guests. He is truly a culinary genius. Staff is friendly and efficient although doesn't always handle the wait for tables as effectively as possible. Pros: Food, Wine list, staff Cons: small dining area more
