The food was good and it came quickly. The server was very helpful and even though there was a slight languauge barrier, i felt that the service was very good. Great menu of cuban food and from what my table stasted much of it was very good. more

An aficionado of 'legitimate and traditional' Cuban food, will realize that the Miami/South Florida Area is the hub of such cuisine, and the expectation of quality and taste must be made in comparing so many eateries as traditional, nouveau or outright bastardized styles - taking such considerations, then you're able to compare frijoles to frijoles and yuca to yuca. Because of the vast number of places, the best Cuban victuals are usually to be found in venues that have been around for a very long time and is frequented by locals (Cubans and Cuban-Americans), La Carreta is one such place. I have frequented this location for many, many years. Here, you'll be able to appreciate Cuban Cuisine in its true light, and it is indeed very good! Although the overall experience between the décor and ambience was good and in an unsophisticated way - the service unfortunately is lacking, but the prices were equitable to the value of what we receive - definitely worth the money. We recommend this La Carreta eatery more highly than its other numerous franchises in the area (as this was the first to open many years ago), this being a far better value, much more authentic, with excellent taste as well as overall experience! This is a better choice over Vesailles almost across the street if you're seeking legitimate and traditional, as well as tasty Cuban. …Rick el Gástro Ecléctico! more

A Miami landmark that serves great Cuban cuisine 24/7. Bistec empanizado is my favorite. more

The best Cuban food. My whole table of gringos allowed me to order for them: churrasco, arroz imperial, ox tail stew, plantenos maduros, cafe con leche, flan. They loved it. Better than Versailles IMO. more

Place sucks....go somewhere else for Cuban food 2/13/2011

Went to thte Pembroke PInes location and they force yout o order the buffet from the dining room on the weekends. If you dare order something else, they overcharge you for it and then threaten to charge you the full buffet if you even take a bite out of a left-over pastry. I'm still speechless. Don't go to any of these places....from what I see on the internet, they all suck and have terrible management. more

As the title suggest I am not a Cuban food expert and in fact rarely get to try it.. so my opinion is certainly not based on authenticity!!\r The food was well priced for the portions and everyone in my party orederd something different. I ordered the ham croquettes appetizer and it was ample to share and of good flavor (not as good as mine...lol), but good all the same, It comes with ham, pork and cheese slices and is ample for two. \r My main dish was roast pork and it was a really good and plentiful. My wife orderd the Cuban and again it was good.\r We all made some tweeks and substitutions to the menu item such as papa fritas for rice and all were accepted and accomodated with a smile.\r We all enjoyed this meal and would definately return!!! more

Service is terrible and crooked. I arrived with a large party, and once the bill arrived and we went over it, we found that the waitress had attempted to overcharge us on multiple items-- in large part I believe our waitress thought this possible because the bill was written out in Spanish and it may have appeared ( falsely) that there were no Spanish speakers at our table, as we all ordered and spoke in English. When all was said and done, the bill came out to over $150 less than she originally thought. Poor service, untrustworthy, rude staff. more

The food is great but the service is really bad, the staff need lots of training. more

Standouts include picadillo, boliche, ropa vieja, and, of course, the arroz con pollo. Don't forget the flan for dessert! more

La Carreta is an Anti-American Restaurant 6/19/2010

When I attempted to make a reservation at this restaurant the person on the phone says, ""NO ENGLISH! SPANISH!"" and when i said, ""I'm sorry I don't speak Spanish,"" the guy hung up on me! Seriously?! I do believe Miami is still part of the U.S.A and English speaking customers should not be treated like dirt because they don't speak spanish .... I'm thoroughly disgusted by this place. If you want only spanish speaking customers you should move your restaurant to cuba... just saying... Cons: Restaurant is Anti-American more
