This is a great place in the middle of LA on the coast to find a fishing trip, rent a boat by the hour, rent bicyles and skates to ride along the Coastal Bike Trail, or go on a Dinner Dining Cruise or Sunday Brunch cruise. Shanghai Red's, Sapori and El Torito Mexican Restaurants are on the waterfront and offer good food, too. Shanghai Red's is famous for weekend brunches. You can also get a boat to Catalina Island from Fisherman's Village in Marina del Rey. Shopping is nothing to speak off - a few t shirt shops, and that's about it. It's a little run down, but a good place to stroll along the harborfront of the marina. You can see lots of boats sailing in and around the Marina from that point. They also have free outdoor concerts every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. If you buy something from one of the merchants, you can get your parking validated, which will reduce the $8 charge to about $2.
