L & M Bakery

I live in Delaware, and it has been 2 years since I've tasted any of L and M's wonderful pastries, but I have to say, I have never tasted anything so good in my life! I had a customer that would drive from NJ to DE to bring me their great food, and I couldn't wait each time! I would like to go there one day for myself , and see everything up close ! There is no bakery in DE that even compares! Again excellent Bakery! more

I love it when I call a company and I here a professional voice say ""Good Morning or Good Afternoon"" and proceed with professionalism. L&M Bakery is a hit at all of our Family Birthday parties and we love the moist and fresh taste of the cakes. I am a Bridal Consultant and I will be recommending this Bakery to my clients. I want to share our experience in hopes that others will be saved from the same disappointment. We ordered a 3 tiered $120.00 cake for a 1st birthday party. The design was not exactly what was ordered but beautiful non-the less. An employee put the cake into the car; no special directions or instructions were given at that time or prior to picking up the cake. As the driver, I can say I drove exactly how anyone with a $120 cake that is a gift would SLOW & CAREFUL...despite this when I arrived back at the house the top tier of the cake had slide off and was smashed in the box. My sister, whose daughter I brought the cake for was understandably upset but determined to not let it ruin the day. We pieced what we could back together and covered it with icing. When my sister called L & M the following day to tell them what happened, not to receive any financial compensation, but to let them know they should warn customers that this can happen, she spoke to the manager Christy who was not only unapologetic, but down right rude. My sister was told if was not their responsibility and insinuated that the driver was reckless. She went so far as to question the fact that the cake was picked up in a BMW, which must mean the driver was careless. I've been going to L&M Bakery for years!!! The service is the best, the girls are so sweet! The girls are very well educated and very thoughtful! I've been in there before when a customer made a sence, over the wrong shade of blue, and start yelling at the girls. It wasn't their fault, people are only human. I really felt like telling that very rude customer, "" You're going to eat the cake and it's going to come right out the other end!"" The girls handled it very well, they told her they can fix the cake, it only took a few minutes. How would that customer feel if they were in the girl's shoes? L and M bakery is located on a railraod with unappealing scenery and people to match. I walk into the bakery and instantly feel the palpable perceptions of racism and discrimination. Their prices puzzle me, but not to a full extent because the workers don't look like they can spell their name the right way. They are extremely rude and should go back to school to learn correct customer service skills and representation. The editorial review states that it is "" a neighborhood bakery that knows the simplest way to satisfy a sweet tooth"" which is completley false. I have never heard a more false statement than that in my life. Shame on who wrote that. Their glazed donuts lack consistency and finess and the quality of their products amount to a small convenience store on the corner of a no-name town. I strongly do not reccomend this bakery to anyone. Please go to Panera Bread or ShopRite and be happy there. Do not ruin your weekend with sub-zero donuts like I did. I now live in Philadelphia but grew up in NJ and I brought the L and M taste to my Phila family and they were so impressed! I grew up on L and M and drive all the way over there to get the cakes for any event in my family. To me no other bakery has even come close to L and M. I have never ever had a problem, everything is always perfect and fresh! I simply adore L and M! more

If you've been to a birthday party, or party of any sort anywhere in western Burlington County, NJ, chances are very good that you've had baked goods from L & M Bakery. Their variety of cakes is terrific, from traditional birthday cakes with buttercream icing, delectible strawberry shortcakes, carrot cakes with raisins and walnuts, to the unusual (but equally delicious) butter cakes. They have everything you could possibly want from a bakery: breads, rolls, cakes, cookies, donuts, danish, pies, tarts, sticky buns...and the list goes on. I even got my wedding cake from L & M. \r \r There is a line out the door in the early morning as people stop to get their morning pastry and coffee before rushing off to work, so it is adviseable to avoid the morning rush, but don't worry about the shelves being bare. They have an efficient staff that keeps lines moving and stocks shelves quickly. \r \r I recently stopped in to order my daughter's birthday cake and noticed a small pumpkin tart that I couldn't resist. It was so tasty, with a perfectly flaky, homemade style crust and just the right amount of spices that I've decided to order them for Thanksgiving dessert, instead of big pies that usually don't get all eaten by my family. These little mini-pies are sure to be a treat to top off the Thanksgiving meal. And any holiday orders can be placed and paid for in advance so all you have to do is pick up your order. \r \r So if you are in the area and have never tried L & M Bakery, I highly recommend that you stop in and indulge in the sweeter side of life!! I have been going to L & M for about 10 years. My father was a baker all my life and has since closed his store. L & M is the closest thing to my father's delicious bakery items. I've never had any problems with customer service there and am surprised another reviewer had such an issue. Perhaps it may have been how it was handled...it always takes two....Anywho--don't even think about not stopping by for a chocolate covered white cream filled donut--I drive 35 minutes to get there just for two donuts sometimes!!!! I and everyone in my family have been loyal, loyal customers of L&M Bakery for nearly 20 years. They've made the cakes for nearly every important occasion in our lives and the lives of many of our friends and business associates during that period, but I must say that after a very negative experience I had this past weekend, that will no longer be the case. They made a major decorating error on a $66 cake I purchased and didn't offer to correct or resolve the situation in any way. The young lady who waited on me said the baker could scrape off the incorrect information and re-write it, but then the cake would be ""messed up."" However she was content with allowing me to leave with a ""messed up"" cake. When I asked if I could get even a few dollars off or a set of $2.00 candles in lieu of the error, I was told that that wouldn't be possible. I've since tried to contact the owner to express my concerns and have only been given the run-around and was then hung up on by one of their managers. They have some of the best cake around, without a doubt, but I can only warn people that this is the type of treatment they can expect to receive if any mistakes or issues ever arise in relation to their order (s). In my opinion, not being able to express dissatisfaction or correct mistakes in fair and satisfiable ways are major concerns when working with a company that creates product that is in many cases, a very important aspect of some of the most important milestones in our lives - Weddings, Christenings, Graduations, etc. Cons: Service more

I used L & M as the bakery for my wedding. They were reasonably priced and provided just what I was looking for. They duplicated the kente cloth I was using in the ceremony. I have never liked bakery cake because I don't like the icing to the cake and sometimes even the cake itself isn't to great in taste but my sister in law told me about L&M bakery and since I have tried their cake for the first time I have never ever used anyone else for my cake & pastry needs. Whenever we are having a party I go straight to L&M for the cake. I especially love their butter cream icing. I have never tasted any like theirs. For my husband's birthday party a bought his cake from L&M's and his family all told me that they wanted me to buy their birthday cake too because it's the best they have ever eaten.
