Best sushi in the triangle. Lovely staff. Drinks & checks are hard to come by, sometimes. No biggie -- you're supposed to be relaxing at a sushi bar. Tip for the insider: they hav...

Worst

Look at the greasy grill and food on the floor...do I need to say more? The food was okay but far from good. Not coming back. Pros: cheaper than Kanki Cons: bad food, dirty

Good sushi, authentic food from the kitchen 8/22/2010

They have very good sushi and nice Japanese dishes. They recently raised their prices though, and now they are comparable to Kanki's. I recommend sitting at the sushi bar and just ordering from the sushi bar and the kitchen. Their teppanyaki food is very salty. I'm not sure if I'll go back because of the raised prices, but it's still a solid Japanese restaurant. more

Used to be Great- Don't know what happened 10/9/2009

If it were not for Rodney, I doubt this place would be open. The bar 4 stars- best bartenders around but, cheap liquor. Pros: bar Cons: food more

Gross, very dirty 5/19/2009

greasy grill is gross 8/8/2007

My boyfriend and I went here on a Tuesday night. Seating was prompt which was nice. The main reason we went here was because I love sushi, but my boyfriend does not. Well, turns out they wouldn't let me order any sushi from the Hibachi area because of a big group of people that had come for sushi. I was pretty disappointed about that especially because I was only ordering three pieces of sushi. The food was good, however while it was being cooked I noticed a big gap between the grill and the table and that gap was disgusting. It looked like it was filled with enough grease to remake the movie ""Grease"". I was pretty grossed out. Service was OK. The other couple at the table asked for chopsticks and never got them. Water was a little slow in coming. I probably won't go back. more

ok for a group but food so-so 6/4/2007

Kurama was the only Japanese restaurant in the area I could find that would let me make a reservation on a Saturday night for a large group. The wait staff was efficient and generally friendly, though we had a little trouble communicating about how we wanted to split up the check. The service was quick and there was A LOT of food, all of which was prepared right in front of us at these gigantic grills right on the table. It was fun to watch, though some of us got very hot sitting right next to the grill all through the meal. I had the grilled shrimp. It was salty, as was the miso soup - I've actually never had such salty miso soup in my life - and the salad dressing. Kurama was good for a big group, but I'm not sure I'd go back again for the food. Pros: accommodating a lot of people, prompt service Cons: salty food more

Sushi-amazing 7/23/2006

Best sushi in the triangle. Lovely staff. Drinks & checks are hard to come by, sometimes. No biggie -- you're supposed to be relaxing at a sushi bar. Tip for the insider: they have ""fresh"" wasabi. Not the paste, the grated plant. I think they buy it frozen (as all shipped wasabi must be, even the paste), but it is AMAZING. You have to ask the sushi chef for the ""fresh"" wasabi, or the ""other"" wasabi. It will change your life. Pros: sushi, friendliness, sushi Cons: not much -- getting a check? more

!!BEST JAPANESE IN TRIANGLE AREA!! 2/2/2006

Kurama is AWESOME! My boyfriend & I go at least once a week and we don't even need to order--the sushi chefs know what we like and they give us new things to try all the time. They are GREAT! Everything is so fresh and yummy. The hibachi is great too and for great price, but we always fill up on sushi and never have room for all the hibachi you get. The entire staff is great and very friendly. They are open for lunch now too! Pros: staff, food (sushi!) Cons: fri nite parking more

The sushi bar is our favorite 6/12/2005

We like Kurama's hibachi experience, but we really go there more often for the sushi. The food is always the freshest. However, the sushi chefs are what makes the bar so special. They are always friendly and fast. We are regulars there, and they make it a point to say hello and ask how we are. We highly recommend the sushi bar to anyone. Pros: fresh food, fast service, friendly chefs more

Ummm Good! 7/1/2003

I eat at Kurama at least once a week. The food there is always mouth watering and fresh to the taste. I recommend eating at Kurama for any occassion: Birthday, Mother's Day, or Sunday dinner. Pros: resonable prices, nice area more

Great Authentic Japanese Food! 12/10/2002

Kurama is an excellent authentic Japanese restaurant. I had the filet and shrimp and it was very good (but they did use a lot of butter!). Since I am 12 I can relate to the fact that the restaurant has a very good atmosphere and kids should like it. Just lighten up on the butter and I would have absolutely loved Kurama. Pros: Value, Atmosphere Cons: Crowded, Buttery food more

LOVE IT 10/15/2002

If you like an authentic japanese steakhouse..then kurama is the place. Especially if you can take advantage of their early bird special everyday until 6pm. It is the best for your buck. Cons: parking more
