Best food in town 7/7/2011

Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood. The service is great and the staff really does a terrific job at taking care of you. The appetizers are delicious. Theres plenty of places to park: theres a parking lot across the street and a parkin garage up the street within walking distance. Most of the time I find myself looking at my watch waiting for the food to come, but here I was so entertained with the fun atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised when my food arrived more

The BEST cheap sushi 5/28/2008

The quality of the sushi is fantastic. Not too impressive from the outside cause it's in a strip mall, but the inside is super cute, the sushi is delicious. The service is decent. Overall experience is great, especially when you see the bill. Pros: Value, Freshness Cons: Service more

Great Nieghborhood Sushi 2/16/2008

Delicious sushi and fun hangout for a great price. The owners and staff are always friendly and welcoming. The sushi is some of the freshest around and the cut is large for the price. The salmon collar is excellent too. The chefs are great and love creating their specialties. The fried peanut butter and banana with ice cream dessert makes a delicious ending to your meal. more

Fresh fish, cute atmosphere and good prices 12/1/2007

I've been looking for a reasonably priced and good sushi place for awhile. My friend suggested this place but the outside looked uninviting so I never went. I finally did and was impressed. It has a cute decor and the food is great. The portions are good and the fish tastes fresh. I've had different things off of the menu and everything was good. The yellowtail collar in particular is delicious. The parking is very convenient with it's big lot and it's nice to eat up on Sunset. I've taken friends there and they all said they'll be going back. I'll definitely add it to my list for the attentive service, above average food and reasonable prices. Pros: Price, quality, parking more

Leathery Fish 5/24/2007

We went here on the recommendation of a friend of a friend. Never again will I order blindly from a new sushi place. In the future, we will order one dish and go from there. We ordered an entire dinner and were disappointed greatly with the quality of fish. My red snapper was tough and had the texture of leather. \r \r The salmon salad was good but when our sashimi arrived I felt a crunch of ice when I bite down - clearly they had not properly prepared the fish. \r \r I would definitely pass up this place. Pros: easy to park Cons: low grade fish more

Great food, great prices, great staff 8/15/2006

I read previous reviews and give this place thumbs up! Don't let the strip mall scare you away. The sushi was fantastic and the overall decor was really nice - great value, great people. Pros: price, quality, staff Cons: t.v. screen near the sushi bar more

Surprise Deliciousness 4/25/2006

I live down the street and had dismissed this place as a random fast-food sushi joint. Wrong! Once inside, you are welcomed into a delightful atmosphere created by tasteful decor and blacked-out windows that shield diners from the mini-mall outside. The servers are friendly, the fish is great, and it is reasonably priced. I am glad to have a new neighborhood spot! Pros: yummy sushi, atmosphere, service more

BEST KEPT SECRET IN L.A. 2/19/2006

Once in a blue moon, a sushi restaurant comes along that forces others into the background. In Los Angeles, Kura is that restaurant. In my opinion, Kura is the best sushi restaurant in West Hollywood. Kura boasts a full entree menu, and every imaginable roll. I especially recommend the albacore tataki and the halibut entrees. They are to die for. If you dont know exactly what you want, but theres a certain theme youre after, resident Chef Cass will riff on it, and nail it for you. You will never get bored eating here. Right now, this place is the best-kept sushi secret in LA. The combination of the great fish and fantastic atmosphere create experiences that make sure it wont be a secret for very long. Watch out, Sasabune! Pros: Inexpensive, ample parking more

Sushi is freaking awesome. 12/21/2005

You go to a sushi restaurant for sushi. And damn, this place knows how to make sushi. Not only that, they make everything around the sushi good too. The place decor and ambience is very nice. The staff treats you like you want. The food other than the sushi is great too. more
