Wow!!! 7/15/2011

Wow! They are gorgeous. I chose another great selection. I'm ready to start on a second tree. My friend has one tree for her extensive Radko collection and her second tree houses another collection. I love the San Francisco collage ornament and the red/wh/blue spiral. And then there is the beautiful Snow White. I could go on and on. Thank you for rushing the order. more

Thank you 7/8/2011

Great Ornaments! 7/6/2011

It was a pleasure to buy my ornaments from you this afternoon. more

Thank Youuu!!! 7/1/2011

It's here! It's here! Came this morning and I love it, can not tell you how thrilled I am with this bag, just as I imagined it, great size and I love the velvet straps. I have it packed with goodies already! Once again I would like to thank you so much for going to the trouble of posting overseas it was kind of you and a credit to your customer service. more

Majestic 6/28/2011

You're a goddess you are Keverne! more

Love Kumquat Art 6/24/2011

She has always has a """"NO DOGS ALLOWED"""" sign posted! What's the big deal? She has tons of breakable items, why would you want to risk your dog breaking them and then having to buy them? 2nd, you cant expect to bring your dog into every store. I have seen plenty """"NO DOGS ALLOWED"""" signs all over the city. Get over it! My daughter and I love Kumquat and all her quality gifts and local artists that she supplies. I have purchased tons of gifts for friends and family. Everyone loves them and we have never had a problem with her or her store policies. more

Always had a great experience 6/22/2011

I've always had a great experience here. I've mostly been a causual browser but I've never felt that the owner was rude or mean at all and seemed very friendly to me every time I've been in-even when I haven't bought anything. Just this past christmas she helped me pick out a great gift for the Mother-In-Law Who Has Everything that she actually loved. It's a little pricey yes, but it's a boutique store so it's gonna be. more

Amazing place!!!! 6/20/2011

""I have been shopping in this art store for years. It is always a treat to walk in and be greeted by sweet old Freelance, a dog who acts like she has never been pet before. And clever Keverne, a class act with a great sense of style and excellent taste in art objects. I can only go in after payday, because when looking for gifts for others, I always see something I want (no need) for ME. The best (any) holiday decorations and ornaments, great selection of cool greeting cards. There are fabulous paintings and art for your walls, children's toys that you can trust and delightful nutcrackers of all kinds. Kumquat has something for everyone who wants creative, artful & quality gifts."" more

Great store!! 6/15/2011

""I came here to buy a Baby Jak blanket for my girlfriend - I must admit I wasn't inclined to enter the store after reading all the negative reviews! I called ahead to inquire about product availability, and the lady who answered seemed nice enough and described all the different blanket styles she had, so I decided to drop in. If that was the infamous Keverne, she must have changed. I went in the store today, toting my baby in her carseat and my giant diaper bag. No rude comments. In fact, the owner couldn't have been more helpful - she gave me time to browse the blankets before asking if I needed help (I hate salespeople who immediately jump on you the second you show interest in any item). She even boxed the blanket for me and tied a ribbon around it. And then she introduced me to the Sally Spicer bags, and seriously they are to die for! I browsed the various bags, she brought out different styles and described them, all the while there was no pressure to buy anything (and I didn't purchase one). But I had a fine shopping experience and will definitely return for the fall trunk show."" more

Good gift items 6/14/2011

I always find good gift items in this shop. The ecological kid gifts, the good stuff for mom and step-mom, the interesting arty items for my own place... I like the selection and the homey feel. The owner/worker has always been nice to me, and I come back every now and then when I need a good gift or when I'm just strolling on Clement Street. more

Pefect gifts! 6/7/2011

Today was the baby shower of my beyond perfect, pretty, fabulous, artsy, intelligent coworker and I rushed out last night to get a last minute gift that wold be up to her standards. I have been looking for just the right thing for about 3 days and was not inspired and out of time... Until I stumbled into Kumquat on my way to Thidwick Books because I saw these adorable stuffed monkeys in the window. It was almost closing time and I was the only one in the store (besides the gentle dog flopped on the floor who didn't seem to notice me). The woman behind the counter (presumably the owner?) was helpful and knowledgeable and patient as I selected the perfect gift: A handmade ragdoll-like stuffed owl made of vintage textiles!!! It looks like a couture version of an Ugly Doll!!! I also bought a nontoxic teething ring (just to throw in something practical). She wrapped my gift with pretty satin ribbon (and let me pick the color). She even walked from behind the desk to hand me the bag and signed me up for the email list. I'm giving so many details because I want to highlight that I had a great service experience here. Don't pass up this store due to the Yelp reviews. See for yourself. The gifts are really one of a kind, hand crafted treasures. And I was the hit of the party today. more

Good quality gifts. 6/1/2011

The owner is quirky, well intentioned, but not sales oriented. She's not the only strange sales person in SF. I've been going there for years primarily for original, good quality gifts. more

Great place 5/24/2011

I love Keverne, the owner, as she always remembers me. What better way to bring back business? So anyway, I'm the chick that always goes for the sale/clearance bins. I'm used to people hating me for shopping only at those prices. But I guess she understands. She always tells me which cards are on sale, and where...(i.e. somewhere in the bin under the table) lol I have shopped for interesting birthday gifts (i.e. the paper balls with hidden trinkets), beautiful and funny cards for all occasions. I love just browsing too--beautiful handmade bags, blankets, etc. I'm reading the inane comments about the dog.... hey, she has an older, mellow dog, but she does not want her dog getting riled up...and you want to know why--because it will be like letting a bull loose in a china shop! more

This shop is really really gorgeous 5/20/2011

This shop is really really gorgeous. This brings me back to Europe...I saw their great looking Easter window across the street from that cheap looking gift store. Now this is what I call a great looking store. The owner is non pretentious and there's something very European about her. Hey if you had walked into a cheap looking shop (Sara Gift) across the street and bought something that broke immediately, you would rather deal with a nonchalant store (Kumquat) owner and get her quality goods instead. I wonder how she feels about having a cheap shop across the street from her...maybe it makes her stuff look better? more
