I'll go across the street to McD's 8/12/2008

Four people, four burgers, four root beers, and two bowl of chili. Almost thirty bucks! The burgers sat in the kitchen, under a heat lamp for a long time. (the meat was dry and the bun was crusty), the chili was just disgusting. This MAY have been the place to be 20+ years ago....but it is now the place NOT to be. Go across the street, save 20 bucks, and get a much better burger.. Pros: Close to downtown, but so is McD's Cons: The Menu more

Best burgers in town! 10/1/2007

Preble Krolls (Krolls East) serves the best buttery burger in Green bay. They have buttons in every booth that light up a number on the wall so the waiteress knows that you want something. The interior has not changed since the 50's and the exterior is the 1936 original. If you want a great burger, excellent service and amazing nostalgia I would reccomend Preble Krolls. Pros: Great burgers, Great service, and a Great time. Cons: None more

Try it once...you'll love it or hate it 7/29/2006

I think people should try Kroll's at least once. The large amount of butter on an otherwise useless burger is a taste treat for many. I LOVE the butter burgers because it's a unique taste. A friend of mine (who is a burger fanatic) can't stand them. It's a subjective taste. Not so sure about Kroll's east, but west's prices are too high to be considered a value unless you take into account they're right next to Lambeau. (NOT a reason to pay higher prices in my book) Service is good at best and often mediocre to bad. Shared tips almost assure that you'll never see the same wait person twice. I agree with the last post that Kroll's is an icon for Green Bay residents and has a big nostalgic value, but that's pretty much where the value ends....unless you like the taste of butter burgers, then...value is subjective to what you're craving. Pros: Butter burgers, shakes and other foods may be just what you're craving Cons: Nothing worth mentioning at all beyond the butter. more

wow... I can't belive these reviews... 4/8/2006

Obviously all of the reviews are from long time Kroll's fans. I moved to Green Bay recently and after hearing about Krolls myself tried it... the food, including the burgers are horrible and overpriced considering the quality. After talking with friends and co-workers the consensus is that Krolls used to be great and now people just think it is great and lie to themselves for nastalgic reasons. Good place for a stroll down memory lane if you are an old timer.. bad place if you like food. Pros: reminds some their, better, more youthful, days Cons: the food, the building more

Kroll's has the best butter burgers I've ever had 12/24/2005

Krolls East has better food at a cheaper price but the West side has a nicer ambience. Either way you can't go wrong. Pros: Excellent Food, Friendly Service, Great Value Cons: None more

Our favorite burger in Green Bay 7/16/2005

We have been going to Krolls East for hamburgers for 40 years. The ambience is fair but service good. The butter burgers are a treat. although we no longer live in GBay, we make a trip here each time wevisit. Also enjoy their chli with noodles. The greates burgers, soup, and chili in northeast Wisconsin. I would recomend this place to anyone. The employees are as friendly as they come, not only have they been they serving the customers forever, but they have also been making the food forever. Krolls East is a down to earth, friendly and comfotable place to get a quick burger, excellent perch plate, or just a cocktail. I frequent Krolls atleast once a week. Pros: fast service, friendly people, great food more

good greasy spoon 9/29/2003

Don't go to Kroll's expecting fine dining and you won't be disappointed. Great butter burgers with lots of grease. I like the cauliflower buds with ranch dressing - Kroll's can find a way to make any healthy item unhealthy. I go to Kroll's when I'm looking for a laid back atmosphere & cheap and greasy food. Pros: good food more
