Best

Koyi's has been our favorite sushi restaurant in Minnesota for the past 7 years. The sushi menu is excellent. Some of my favorites are salmon carpacio, number 9 roll and salmon ...

I'm not quite sure why some of the rave reviews for this place... friends maybe or their judgement is clouded by the happy hour prices. Pros: cheap happy hour prices Cons: ...

Yum! 7/23/2005

I love this place. The sushi has always been fresh, delicate and lovely, and the service is usually friendly. The sushi chef actually remembered my friend and I and suggested rolls he thought we might like, and talked to us for a bit. The waitstaff tends to be rather hurried and it's rather dark in some places. Also, parking is hard, but that's just the location I guess. But overall, the yummy sushi makes up for all of this. Pros: fresh sushi, fun chef!, everything is tasty Cons: parking, light inside more

THE BEST! 12/9/2004

Friendly, fast service, reasonable prices HUGE sushi pieces (the first time I've ever had to take two bites!). I've been there a dozen times and it's always fresh and tasty. I love the decor - and the location is very easy to get to. Pros: HUGE sushi, good prices, fast friendly service more

best in Minneapolis 8/25/2004

My biggest fear of moving from San Francisco to Minneapolis was missing out on great sushi. I have tried almose every sushi restaurant in the Twin Cities and Koyi is defninitely the all around best! I have eaten there close to 20 times and I have been satisfied every time. The ambiance may not be quite as nice as some of the rival sushi restuarants nearby, but the prices are lower, the fish is always fresh, and the selection is fantastic, far better and more consistent then any other sushi restaurant I have tried in the Twin Cities. Pros: great food , inexpensive, great selection more

There is none better 5/20/2004

Koyi sushi has the best sushi in Minnesota. The fish is consistently fresh. The chef is amazing (and easy on the eyes too). You must try the Tuna T. salad- it's addictive. I have tried others and been disappointed- mostly because the fish is not fresh and the rolls have been sitting around- who wants a mushy crunchy roll?? Anyway, try Koyi- you'll love the ambiance, the food and the martinis! Pros: fresh fish, creative rolls, ambiance more

Hit-or-miss is right 9/29/2003

The editors are correct, the sushi can either be delicious or very unimpressive. Half the times I've been 100% satisfied - my favorite roll is the #9 roll, with just the right blend of everything. The rest of the time, I've only eaten half of my unagi nigiri because it's chewy, fatty and ... yuck. The service is always pleasant, but they need some separation between the nonsmoking and smoking sections. Also, if you're on a date, sit adjacent to rather than across from each other because the hanging lights are directly in your line of vision and will block your eye contact! Pros: Affordable, polite service Cons: Flip a coin on food, smoke wafting around more

Great Restaurant! 4/1/2003

The food is excellent and the price is so reasonable. great service!! GOT TO TRY more

Sushi with style 8/19/2002

My wife and I have always enjoyed Sawatdee Sushi more than any other sushi restarurant in the Twin Cities. We love the California-style ambience and comfortable atmosphere as well as the food, which has always been very fresh. We cannot believe that this gem is often quite empty at times when you would have to wait in line elsewhere. Ther sushi for two platter is probably the best value in town and they make the best spicy tuna rolls! I just wish that they City of Minneapolis would let them validate parking again. We paid over $7 for a 90-minute dinner because of a Target Center event. Pros: seating availability, fresh fish, ambience Cons: no cheap parking more

Try the Spider Roll - A+++ 8/15/2002

If you're craving for a good sushi but is only willing to shell out less than $20, then this is the BEST place for you!! I was really very impressed on how GOOD they make their sushi and I will definitely come back again and again and again ..... Try the Spider roll and Tempura Shrimp Sushi.. they're so good you'll forget your name!! more
