Worst

I used to love the Kowloon....My last 4 times there the food has been cold and the serivec has been terrible. \r \r I think these restaurants need to get back to bascis and stop...

One of the greatest disappointments. 3/3/2012

My husband and I had been looking forward to eating at this establishment for a couple of weeks as we were spending the afternoon on the north shore and this was an early valentines dinner. We sat down and ordered a scorpion bowl for 2 and got a single one. Then we ordered a poo poo platter it came to us immediately and was so cold and stale we were shocked!! When we wanted to send it back the waiter became very rude and kept insisting he would take it off the tab and said""of course it is cold we make them up an hour in advance."" It was so stale. We got another poo poo platter that was warm.I will say ""the waiter was so rude as if we were a bother him and he would not stay at out table long enough to talk about anything on the menu. When we asked the host about placing an order with the waiter the host said"" The waiter is busy with customers he will come by to see you."" We sat there with no wine or any drink for 1/2 hour so the waiter came over we ordered chicken curry and veggy lomein and before we could ask for a glass of wine the waiter was gone.We had waited about another 35 min. and the waiter came by I asked ""Did you put our order in?he replied, you need to wait a while because that part of the kitchen is not open."" We asked for the manager who never came so we paid our check $32.00 and left. I phoned the resturant and spoke to someone as they would not let me speak to the manager and I was told by a pushy man that it was Sat. he was busy but would send me a money card. It has been over 2 weeks and the card has not shown up. That was by far the worst resturant experience we have ever had. Recently I over heard some women talking at a school who were also very very disappointed with the place and also will never go back due to the very poor service and quality. Do not waste your time and I have made it a point to let everyone I speak to know of our experience at the Kowloon Resturant and to discourage them from eating there. It was really poor quality and service. Very Very overated. From what I am understanding is that if you are a good friend to any of the family members related to Kowloon Resturant then there will be a phone call made in your behalf to the resturant so you will be treated respectfully with good food and service. more

WORST TAKE OUT 8/25/2011

THE WORST TAKE-OUT SERVICE IN ALL MY 60 YEARS. THEY CHARGE $.80 FOR EXTRA DUCK SAUCE. $40.00 ORDER AND THEY WANT ANOTHER $.80 THAT IS A REAL PIGGY MOVE. ALSO VERY RUDE WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT IT. NEITHER MYSELF NOR MY FRIENDS & FAMILY WILL EVER EAT THERE AGAIN. I HOPE THEY PUT THAT $.80 TO GOOD USE. DIDN'T EVEN ANSWER MY EMAIL. VERY OVERRATED AND AVERAGE FOOD !!!!! more

Great fo0d and a lot of laughs 12/26/2008

A group from our office wanted to have a night out with drinks, food for everyone and live entertainment, hopefully comedy.\r We heard Kowloon has live comedy every weekend. With 15 people all hungry and well, in a holiday mood, we made reservations for dinner and went to see the act at the comedy club.\r The food was great. I'm confused by some of the other comments. Having Sushi, Chinese and Thai all in one spot made for a fun experience. We all shared lots of new dishes we hadn't tried. I recommend the Seafood Supreme.\r The comedy act was a riot. They had a hypnotist names Santos that was hysterical and very good. For a great time, with good food for everyone and a bill that won't break the bank, we say try Kowloon. Pros: Comedy club, lots of variety, great appetizers more

limited vegetarian options 3/9/2008

Being a vegetarian, the main complaint that I had with this place was that given the large number of dishes that they have listed on the menu, very few are vegetarian. Of the items that we tried - chinese veg. soup, Hunan tofu entree and meatless chow mein - only the Hunan tofu had some taste. The other dishes were bland and tasteless. The Hunan tofu was very tasty. It would have been even better if it had less brocolli and more of the other veggies that they have listed in the description of the dish. Pros: huge place, nice ambience Cons: few vegetarian dishes more

""NOT WORTH DRIVING TO"" 1/26/2008

I went to this place because it was highly recommended by Phantom Gourmet. They promoted this as a place worth driving to. I went there with high expectations but sad to say I was Very Very DISSAPOINTED! The place smells bad, like unclean toilets and the food is not that good! Most of the foods that I ordered were very bland! It's not an authentic Chinese cuisine as they claim it to be. I am Chinese so I know if a Chinese food is authentic. I suggest that that if you want to eat authentic Chinese cuisine look for reviews that are made my Asians because they can tell the difference. Don't believe in reviews that are conducted by non-Asians like Phantom Gourmet! Overall I give this place 2-3/5. This place is not worth driving to! I wasted 50 miles to go to this place and believe me ""It?s NOT WORTH DRIVING TO""! Cons: see my review more

Food is cold - Always... 12/13/2006

I used to love the Kowloon....My last 4 times there the food has been cold and the serivec has been terrible. \r \r I think these restaurants need to get back to bascis and stop trying to be an entertainment stop for everyone. \r \r \r Stick to the food!!!! Pros: Good atmosphere Cons: Cold food, loud and becoming a recreation hall. more

Best? 8/3/2006

Best Chinese food? Give me a break. The only people who could possibly think the slop served here is good Chinese food are the same people who think the Lee Chow stuff you buy at the supermarket it great stuff too.\r \r Seriously, I grew up in Saugus, the food at Kowloons used to be decent - as in average. Now I seriously doubt the sanity of anyone who could possibly eat there. The place is packed every night because 1) People go to the comedy club 2) People go to get drunk 3) It's a beacon for people with no taste who think a Pu-Pu platter is real Chinese food. If you want decent Chinese food on RT1 go to Out of Asia.\r \r I recently suggest meeting a friend at the bar (kowloons is hard to miss on RT1). The place was so worn and decrepit I was ashamed for having suggested it. 9.0 ratinggeez. Pros: parking, memories of high school Cons: food, worn decor more

Best Chinese Coast to Coast 7/4/2006

This is one of the busiest Chinese restaurants on the planet (check the Wall Street Journal) and rightly so. Everything they serve is superior. Hint: Try the Sweet and Sour Chicken or Pork. There's no other like it. If you're from the left coast, give this a try. You won't believe what you've been missing all your life. East coast Chinese is a different animal and this is the best. Pros: Great Food, great service Cons: Can be crowded more

big disappointment 9/5/2005

I had been looking forward to going to Kowloon for ages. After hearing the praises from Phantom Gourmet and the adverstisements of celebrities that went there, I went with my family on a Friday night. Initially the host was helpful and drinks were good. But our waiter was literally walking away as we finished giving him our order. He didn't seem to have any time for questions or explanations of the huge menu. The food is barely passable. This seems to be place for people looking for huge poritons of fried tasteless food. I had gone with the understanding that they have different kitchens to prepare different foods and I was looking forward to a variety of flavors. But it all tasted the same and needed lots of soy sauce. Summary: we were grossed out by the portions, disappointed by the taste and put off by the service. Pros: promt seating, good drinks Cons: food has no taste, waiter was too busy more
