Not like I remembered 4/21/2010

My family used to be regulars at Kowloon. I recently had a chance to go back after maybe 20 years and was surprised at how bad it was. The first clue should have been the large amount of mold on the outside windows which I didn't notice till after I ate. The idea that no one there would bother to wipe that off makes me wonder what the kitchen must be like. I live in California, where admittedly the bar is higher for Asian cuisine. But by any measure, this was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. The sweet and sour chicken was heavily breaded and deepfried, and coated in a sauce that tasted just like the stuff you get with Chicken McNuggets. The pressed duck was dry and coated in a gravy that tasted like it came out of a can. The almond chicken was tasteless except for the sauce, which was awful. The innocuous-sounding vegetable noodle soup my fiancee ordered gave her an MSG reaction on the way home. Even the rice was dry, and served in skimpy portions. I did not remember Kowloon as a great restaurant, but I sure remembered it as a better one than this. I hope they can get it together, but I will not be going back to see. Pros: few Cons: many more

Top Notch Chinese Food 10/22/2009

Honestly, I've been coming here for a decade... and their food has only improved over time. Hands down, they have the best eggrolls in the Metro Detroit area, and I have tried tons of Chinese restaurants. Their service is good, and extremely fast! more

the BEST chinese food in the area 10/19/2009

I have been going to Kowloon for as long as I can remember. The food is really good and the portions are huge for the price. I?d recommend the almond chicken or egg foo young. Also, they usually have pretty good coupons on their website, which is simple and easy to navigate. Would definitely recommend eating there! Search for their website KowloonDearborn . com Pros: Great Food Servings for price, Coupons more

GREAT Chinese food! 4/10/2009

I've been eating at Kowloons for about 25 years now. They had a different location in Dearborn when I first started eating there. It is a friendly family owned business and was a Sunday favorite after Church. They always use fresh ingredients and the quality of food is always great. My personal favorite is their Almond Chicken. It's always prepaired just right. My parents moved to Ohio, and my sister to Ann Arbor. We always go to Kowloons whenever they are back in town. I've tried many different Chinese restaurants, and have never found one I liked better. With four of us in our family, we usually order the dinner for three. We leave completly full, with leftovers. Great food, great price, and always friendly service. A must try. Pros: Friendly service, and always great food! Cons: Clean bathroom, but needs work from kids writing on wall. more

BLAH TASTING FOOD 11/22/2008

My son recently went on a Chinese food kick when his grandmother took him to a Chinese restaurant. One afternoon we decided to try Kowloon, which usually has many cars, due to the fact, I guess, that they are on a major street. The food did not impress me and made me wonder why all the cars. I do not know, nor do I want to remember what I ordered. It may have been the shrimp/pork combo, my son had General something or other. We both agreed that this place is not worth the time, money or effort. We tried the Hong Kong restaurant across the street, and had a great meal. So if you are in the mood for Chinese, you are in West Dearborn, try the Hong Kong in the mini mall instead of Kowloon. Hong Kongs portions were huge, and the food was tasty. Pros: Close entrance to parking, right off of Michigan Ave Cons: Food is bland, no taste, no doggie bag this time more
