Editorial review from Citysearch 9/12/2012

I've known Mike for over 35 years; I always go to him if I have a problem. He's done everything you can do to a stringed instrument- within reason. And he's honest. Do you want a greenhorn messing around with your favorite guitar? more

He's the man.... 4/29/2011

Mike set up my 1965 Strat a few years back. He changed out the pots, set the neck perfect, and basically gave my old work horse a full tune up and work over. I would not recommend anyone but Mike Koontz. His fret work is better quality then the factory's. I forgot to mention he re-fretted the entire neck. As far as reconditioning and restoration there isn't many guys in the business better then Mike. He is worth the wait. Be patient. He's busy. The best usually is. He can also fix your 65 Twin Reverb like new. So when it comes to amp and guitar repair, he's the man. It's just a little shop, but it is jammed with vintage and newer guitars. Whoever said we have to clone Mike, had it right. more

An exceptional, skilled craftsman! 11/27/2009

I have brought several instruments to Mike Koontz over the past twelve years. Mike is a skilled, conscientious craftsman. He's done work for some of the best-known pros in the industry, but doesn't wear it on his sleeve. He's worked on my much-less-than-vintage guitars, and I'm just a local hack - not much of a musician. more

No disappointments here !!! 4/22/2009

I was looking for someone to refret my vintage Rickenbacker 4001 Bass. Pros: Knowledge, Craftsmanship, Attention to detail Cons: He is busy, We need to clone Mike more

The best acoustic guitar man in the city. 8/13/2008

He worked on my 4 yr old Larrivee D-50 - required fret work due to humidity issue. I would never let anyone else in the city work on my guitar! This is a players guitar! So if your a player see Mike for your guitar setup needs! more

Well worth the wait 6/10/2008

I brought Mike a beautiful and very old guitar in terrible shape. One of three pickups was bad, the wiring was a mess. It took Mike a while to clear his backlog to get to my project, but once he did, he went way more than the extra mile on my behalf. The bottom line is that my vintage instrument now sounds great. The sick pickup has been rewound and rebuilt by Mike and he suggested a new way to wire the controls that makes the instrument far more playable than before. (The original wiring was shot, so restoring to original spec wasn't an option - though Mike tried.) Mike is the man if you have a treasured instrument that needs rescuing. Just be patient. more

Great Guitar Technician 3/14/2007

He's expensive, but well worth it. His work lasts a good while. I recommend him highly. He done quite a bit of work for me. I've always been satisfied with the work and always feel I got my moneys worth. Peace. Pros: He does top notch work Cons: Expensive more

The Grand Master of Guitar Repair!!!!!!!!! 10/23/2006

Mike is one of the best guitar repairman in the world. There's a reason why he has customers like Kid Rock and Motley Crue. This is the only guy you should trust to get your guitar fixed. The prices are very reasonable and the rock n roll ambience is sweet. Pros: Workmanship, Price, Location Cons: Only 1 store and only 1 Mike Koontz more
