After years of dining in the Carlsbad Village area and passing Koko Beach time after time...I have finaly stopped in. And I can say I am glad I did! Koko Beach does have an older, ""Fire Side"" type feel to it. But it is inviting and lively at the same time. The bar area does get full pretty quickly with regulars, especially during major sporting events... but I still found ample room to grab a beer while waiting for our table. I was pleasantly surprised to see that even during a peak time.. pints were only $5, which included local craft beer! The dining area is not huge, but laid out well with a service station in the middle allowing most anyone that passed to refill waters, get plates etc. The staff, from the hostess to the bartenders, waitress and bussers were great. Never failing to offer a hand when passing our table or offering a suggestion on the ""Steakhouse"" type menu. The food was great, several specials offered a variety of items from fish, to chicken and steaks at reasonable prices. My family and I tried everything from the salmon to the flat iron steak to a burger. All got a satisfied thumbs up! All in all, Koko Beach isa great option for a late night meal, family get together, or just a beer and a game! more

Do not be put off by the 70's decor, this is the 'dive bar' of old steakhouses. No one in the area makes a better prime rib. The prices are even better including the drinks. more

There is no better place to get a Prime Rib!!!! It the most juicy mouthwatering prime rib for a fraction of the price of other fancy less flavorful prime rib spots. more

Pretty cool place, friendly service, good value. They brought us freshly baked bread to start, and quickly took our orders. The clam chowder was delicious! The potatoes are perfectly cooked so the soup is very creamy. They give you the choice of soup or salad with the entrees. I ordered the baby back ribs special. It came with the soup, baked beans, and fresh vegetables. Delicious, and so much food, I almost couldn't eat all of the ribs. The waitress was really nice. She brought out a warm washcloth so I could clean all of the barbecue sauce off of my hands. Perfect. :) Also, you can't beat the location, it's only about 2 blocks from the beach. Enjoy your dinner! more

Food was delicious!! Atmosphere was great for a seafood/steakhouse environment. Prices were wonderful considering it was steak and seafood less than 1 mile from the beach!!! more

Always consistently great. Whether you want steak or seafood, you can't go wrong. Clam Chowder and French onion soup are always fantastic. Very big fish portions for a great price. Love the Cajun swordfish when seasonally available. Excellent service from everyone always. Excellent selection in bar as well. Why pay more at other touristy places nearby when you can dine with locals and friendly staff at KoKo. more

We love this place.. Super great steaks salads seafood and lots more. The homemade blue cheese dressing chunky and delicious goes with anything ! ! Open late every day. Friendly family atmosphere . Phenomenal prices and specials. Huge long tables in back for large parties. Big high back booths for date night. Even a room dedicated for ultra private parties adjacent to lounge area. Nothing even compares in North County for frequent dining. A timeless gem and staple in our community for decades. more

It's dive-licious!\r I always go for the prime rib special with potato and salad with bleu cheese, and before current baby in belly I got a 7&7 to drink. Some day I'll be back to 7&7's, they are fantastic.\r They don't make a weak drink that I've ever had so hold on. \r The prime rib is so juicy and consistently delicious they can't help but slop some juice over the side of the plate as it's on it's way to you. Like one of our waitresses told us, you wouldn't want to see the carpet in the day. \r I even love their horseradish and anywhere else I'm not a fan. \r They have a room you can reserve for a private party, some of the booths are pretty small for a group of 4 so try to get a table if you can. more

SUPER YUM-O-LISHIOUS! North county's place for prime rib, my NEW place for prime rib went this last friday night. It was packed and the bar was full. This is not a nuevo, avante garde steak house. What it is a local friendly quaint restaurant with quality food! good quality food. Everything on the others dinners table looked great, especially the crab- ill review that another time. Had: crab stuffed mushrooms, full cut prime rib, with steak fries, french onion soup, salad with blue cheese, every thing was great. The service prompt and timely food hot and cooked spot on! The crab in the mushrooms was sweet and flavorable. the primerib was mild smooth, soft and buttery! Horse radish creamed sauce was strong and creamy without being obnoxious. Asked for the fries xtra crispy and they came as expected - terriffic! 2 prime rib dinners appetizer, soup, sallad and table bread 45.00. I brought home 12oz of prime rib b/c i was so stuffed! more

We ate here on vacation. It was so good we ate here twice. We were a party of 7 and they were able to get us seated within 10 minutes each time. Between us we ordered many things. The stand out items were the clam chowder, crab legs, steak, ribs and bread. They had real butter for the bread not some crappy margarine. The food was all delicious and fresh and cooked well. The ribs were huge and meaty and we had a bunch left over. Even my picky kids liked the clam chowder. The only thing lacking was the baked potato which they charged extra to ""add"" some bacon and a slice of cheap american cheese. The waitstaff both times was polite and able to keep up with our large crazy party. more

Not a fancy place but neither are the prices. The prime rib is always excellent and my mom is a Prime Rib expert. Their specials have been great values. Love that they added windows with the last remodel and brightened it up a bit. Service was good, people friendly and we had 2 prime rib dinners, sides included, bread and each a drink for around $40. All the tables seem to be in use when we left so I think a lot of people like the place. more

I've been to koko beach several times and I've never had anything but a pleasant experience. Maria (the bartender) is always very attentive and my beer never goes empty. She makes my visits enjoyable, the food is good but the service is way I keep going back....\r more

First, they're open late, until midnight. That's always good. Second, their food is the best deal for the money. It may not be imaginative. It's simply prepared. A decent low fat meal costs less than $11. Their salmon is seldom overcooked, something that happens all to often in more costly restaurants. The lighting is subdued with nice booths and only a few tables at the back. Even those tables are along a continuous comfortable bench seat. With a drink (not stingy on the alcohol and often under $5), dinner for two is under $40. Not bad these days. But keep the lights fairly subdued, Coco Beach. Their sister restaurant put in harsher energy saving bulbs and ruined it. more

Woohoo! What a nice surprise! I'd been here once before for drinks @ the patio bar! Was trying to get people together for my birthday and someone suggested we go here... Yeeeha! I was running late, my friend Sue put our names in so they could seat 8 of us. We had a nice round table so we could talk! I didn't hear any complaints! My friend got the French onion soup some others got the clam chowder! One of my friends said this is the ONLY place she has liked the clam chowder from Chicago to Cali! more

Good food for good prices. Interior has not been re-decorated since the opening - but the food has been good for every visit. We will continue to patronize. Good specials with steak and prime rib. more
