This Place Has Excellent Tasting Food!!!! 2/2/2011

Went to Kokeb for my 49th birthday on Feb 1, 2011 with my son. It was our first time eating Ethiopian food. I have been sponsoring a girl in Ethiopia for about 8 years and always wanted to try the food so I could experience what she does. We were not diasappointed!!!! It was so good we decided to get a second order to take home with us since we live about an hour and a half away from Seattle and don't get up there very often. We had the Atkilt Beyayenetu Combo and the Sega Beyayenetu Combo. Loved the spices so much I'm now researching recipes online so maybe I can make some at home. The staff was friendly and conversational which I appreciated. The only downside was they seriously need to get new chairs, clean them or have them re-upholstered!!!! Plus they kept playing one Ethiopian song over and over and over again! It was nice the first couple of times but then it just became annoying. Overall though I give it an A+++++++ more

Deliciously Expensive 5/9/2010

This restaurant has excellent service. The owner/waitress was very polite and efficient. The food was delicious and very spicy. The downside, (and it's a big one), are their prices. We ordered 4 different dishes, each costing between $14.50 and $16.00! The portions were no more than 9 oz of food. Our daughter's meal cost $16 for 5 teeny prawns in a tomato sauce. We probably won't return to this restaurant unless we suddenly find ourselves swimming in money. Be prepared to eat according to their culture...with your hands and unleavened bread as your utensils. Fun and different though, but too expensive for the size of their portions. Pros: Taste Cons: Price, parking more

Amazing experience - come for Ethiopian Cuisine in Seattle! 12/11/2009

Not sure what this other guy had, but my food at kokeb was amazing. I've had Ethiopian in many different parts of the world, and this was one the best. I love the experience in general, and the staff was very friendly. It's close to capitol hill and central district, so sometimes I bring my co-workers for lunch.. Try it if you have not before Pros: the experience, the food, the experience more

Great food, great people 2/2/2008

I went here for my birthday party and had a blast. The food was great and they really made a big deal over my celebration. This really felt like a quality, family run sort of place. I'm definitely going back soon and would recommend it to anyone. more

A cultural Gem in Seattle 11/12/2007

This place is really an experience to have. I love going here and basically learning about their culture through their food and ceremonies. I am a MORE than avid coffee drinker and love to follow meals up with it. There coffee ceremony makes it even more special than throwing back a starbucks latte. \r \r I don't really know what to compare the food to so you will just have to go give it a try. Go for it! more
