My husband and I wanted to go out to a new place to eat because we were tired of the same old thing. Figuring that since we were going to a movie later in Hendersonville, we thought it would be convenient to go to Kohana. The place was very empty but considering it was a Sunday, we were not really surprised. The place has a nice Asian flare, but I was left feeling cold with the white paint and dark blue seats. The first thing I noticed the cook staff/sushi prep were Mexican. I believe in equal opportunities but really?! We ordered appetizers, my husband got Cucumber rolls and I got Crunchy Shrimp rolls. The sushi LOOKED pretty but the taste was blah. I couldn't taste the shrimp or the avocado which was over ripe and mushy. My rolls were just over blached rice and crunch. My husband's cucumber rolls were blah. Think they used regular white rice instead of the sticky sushi rice. We also got the negimaki which tasted like Steak 'Um's rolled in scallions but with no season nor flavor. My salad, which had raw broccoli as a main ingedience, had ginger dressing which did not taste like ginger and had a weird texture and the miso soup was way too salty. I had ordered the Chicken Katsu which when it came out looked like a frozen fried Tyson chicken patty that they had cut into small pieces and dressed it up with a wilted lettuce leaf. It was very dry and had no season or taste. The sweet & tangy tonkatsu sauce to dip it in was over tangy. My husband got the XO fried rice which said it was seasoned but needless to say, no taste at all. The waiter was tentive but in a rush to please but at least when I told him I wasn't going to pay for the chicken he did take it off the check. Left the place hungry, disappointed and ate popcorn and Junior Mints for dinner.\r
