The food was great, very nice place. The service was losey. I think our waitress needed to retire. Our dinner was later evening, and she may have needed her rest. I went to the Knight's Steak House for my birthday. We ate dinner a little late, so it was mostly people hanging out at the bar. It wasn't busy and we didn't have to wait too long for a table. I have to admit, the food was pretty good. I had a chicken dish that had ham, cheese, and asparagus inside. It was very tasty. The bread was good too. \r \r The only thing I did not like about my dining experience, was the service. It was bad. Maybe it was since we ate a late dinner (around 8:30)... or maybe it was because our waitress was having a bad day. Anyway, it really wasn't the type of service that I had expected. After she took our order and gave us our bread, we didn't see her till our food came out and then she promptly left before I could say anything. She never asked if we wanted more bread and she only gave my bf refills on his pop. I never got a refill for my water.\r \r I will probably go back there again because the food was good...but I hope the service will be better the next time I visit. \r Sure just because it has been around for almost a hundred years. Or because it started as a meat market and got so famous for their beef that they had to open a restaurant. Or because it is truly family run, with solid values and hospitality.\r \r Or no, screw all that. Go for the food, because the place is truly awesome. Their fries are thick, and fresh. Their meats are bar none the best and I worked in the restaurant industry for years including places where a steak would set people back, way back. I also have eaten at some of the more famous steak houses where a steak starts at 50$, in LA, Boston, and beyond. \r \r Friends, it does not get better than this so go, enjoy and tip one back for Don. Wow.........this is a meateaters heaven. ""You will enter as strangers and leave as friend"" The bartenders are quick to pour you a famous Knight's cocktail. Enjoy meeting new friends and catch up with old ones. Then your name is called, you are now off to enjoy a wonderful steak, seafood, pasta, or what ever they can make for you. Always good food and professional service. Away from the Downtown Trendy spots, this place just serves great food and drinks. Beef is king here. Best burgers in town. London Broil Special is favorite of many. Great nachos and hot fudge sunday shows the many sides to this place. Busy and smokey, there is a good size non smoking area in the rear, but around the bar isn't the place for non-smokers! Older crowd that has been going there for years. Besides having the best cuts of meat at the best prices in Ann Arbor, Knight's gives you a chance to step away from the sanitized and PC eating experiences so common to this wannabe Ivy League town. In a town where you can't take two bites without running into a salad, the dark, smoke filled corners of Knight's are a welcome relief.
