Unbelievable! 4/20/2011

Honestly, I wouldnt even give this place one star! The rest of these reviewrs arent lying! I never shop here and my daughter recieved a summer dress from Kmart for her first birthday. The giftgiver bought it in 3 sizes to big for my 1 year old and I wanted to exchange it for something else. Let me tell you, the dress was brand new, tags intact and was on there selling floor as a new spring item. I went in and explained my story and the woman in customer service was soooo rude! she said without a reciept, the only thing she can do is exchange it for the same size, but was still hesitant. She told me I should ask the giftgiver for the receipt....who does that when ther recieve a gift?!!? Then she proceeded to play with the computer and told me that it wouldnt even allow her to do it. I asked for a manager and she was worse than the associate. I have worked retail my whole life for Luxury brands and never have i experienced such horrible customer service! I can see if I was trying to do something fishy, but all I wanted was to exchange a brand new item for something I can actually use and not an ugly dress my 1 year old would have to wait four years to wear! I called Sears and complained and they sent me to the Norridge store to exchange it and told me they would even give me cash back....How did the computer magically work this time? I finally got some baby wipes and diapers....things I could actually use!!! more

DO NOT SHOP AT KMART! 9/14/2010

I had put an xbox 360 elite on layaway, I paid for the xbox when I got home, I found a beaten up old console that had been switched, also the controller the headset and the power cable were missing, someone inside the store broke opened the package switched consoles and took the items that came with the console! more

Not sure why the others were so negative 9/4/2010

I'm just moving to the area from the city so I needed all kinds of stuff to set up a new home. While it's certainly not the prettiest store around, I can overlook the threadbare decor for the values. The staff wasn't rude to me. I asked a random employee where to find towels when I was having trouble finding them on my own, and she walked me to the display while telling me about some specials. (A 22" HD TV for $210! I got one for the bedroom!) The store is not well laid out. Some areas have comfortable, wide open space while others are so packed that it's a challenge to manuver a cart through. Even though the look of the store is like walking onto the set of "Mad Men", and the cashier had some funky issue with the register, I'll be back. I still have to explore the food section! Oh yeah, they have a rebate program too! How cool is that!?! more

Never Again 12/6/2009

I called three times to see if the K-Mart on Oakton In Des Plaines had something in stock. I was put on hold each time for 10 minutes, I called back, same thing, put on hold again, called back. just put on hold to rot I guess. I was trying to save myself an hour of driving back and forth but they are obviously too busy doing nothing to anwer the phone in the Mens Department. I will never ever ever ever shop at K Mart again - Ever! I would rather pay a few bucks more than have to deal with being left on hold...and no, I never did find out if they had the size I was looking for, because after 30 mins on hold, I didnt even care if they did or not. I went to Target instead. Pros: .. Cons: Terrible Service more

Don't Come Here, it's kinda evil. 8/4/2008

I live a few blocks away from this store and I don't ever step foot in it unless I just need some milk or cereal or something small. The people here are generally rude and you can tell that they don't like you. Prices aren't EVER marked the right price and don't bother waiting for a price check unless you want to be there the whole night. You can tell that the management is not very nice to the poor high school kids that are forced to work there and paying them nothing also doesn't help make anyone cheerful. I truly don't recommend you go to the store. It's just so much easier to go to the Target less than half a mile down Lee/Manihem. Sorry Kmart... even Sears can't say you from losing all business. more
