Doesnt even deserve One star 3/10/2010

We ate take-out from here this evening it was disgusting!!! The Noodles were flat and greasy it had no flavor AT ALL. I had to add soy sauce, salt and pepper but it was still greasy and sloppy. Nasty!! Try at your own risk who knows MAYBE??!!! we just got a bad bunch??? All in all NOT impressed and we will NOT be eating there again. It was also kinda pricey for such poor quality it (Roast Pork Lo Mein) only comes in one size for $7 something which is above what I usually pay for good chinese so much for trying something different. more

Great Food For The Price 10/25/2009

Three of us eat here every Sunday for lunch. It is one of the few restaurants that give you plenty of great food and do not hurt your wallet. Everyone of the waitresses are nice and cute and give great service. Go King Chef!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will not be disappointed. Pros: Great lunch Menu, Great Service, Always Helpful Cons: None at all more

The Absolute Best Place For Chinese 5/1/2009

Having lived long enough to know that you could never begin to please everybody....I still can not see how this restuarant would fail to deliver. I am a card carrying lover of asian food and this place has....barre none, the very best chinese I have ever eaten. Everything is simply perfect. The food is so wonderful, the vegetable are so very fresh, the restuarant is extremely clean and the staff so friendly. I only hope the owners don't become rich and retire. Until then, I will continue to drive clear across the city to eat here. It is simply that good. (And no....I don't know a single person from this establishment, I just love their food!) Pros: Every Single Thing Cons: I don't live closer....lol more

Fantastic Chinese Cuisine at a Reasonable Price 2/22/2009

Some of the best Chinese food in town. They've been around for almost ten years but we just recently discovered them thanks to a nice lady at Costco who heard us lamenting the lack of good Chinese restaurants here in town. The portion sizes are generous, even for lunch and the prices are reasonable. The Pu Pu platter has all the favorite apetizers. The meat skewers are quite tasty (not tough like at other places) and the crab rangoon is hot and creamy...not the over fried, stiff chewey things you find at some other restaurants. The hot and sour soup is some of the best I have had, and the egg rolls are delicious. The staff is very friendly and they recognize their regulars. Many of your favorite dishes may be found with other meat ingredients. I have always liked garlic chicken, but was delighted to try garlic beef. We go about once a week now. more

Best Egg Rolls, Hot-Sour Soup, and Potstickers in Indy! 11/18/2008

This is a lifesaver for those who've given up trying to find egg rolls, hot sour soup, and potstickers that are worth eating! Pros: If you know where it is, it's worth going! Cons: Location is not visible from all sides of 96th Street more

Amazing food & Amazing prices! 9/21/2008

I love to eat here with my family, not only is the lunch menu large but the portion sizes are huge! They use high quality meat, the chicken is white meat that has had all the fat taken off & the sesame chicken is by far the best of any of the Chinese restaurant I have eaten at. The staff is super friendly and tend to remember you when you come back. Go for lunch and I am sure you will go again for dinner Pros: Value more

King Chef is delicious 6/18/2008

I don't eat a lot of chinese food except for the occassional buffet but I do like King Chef. I've been there quite a few times and have always had good food at inexpensive prices, especially for lunch. The staff is always nice and friendly. I would recommend King Chef to anyone, except during lunch hour because I don't want to have to wait for a table! ;) more

Great restaurant! 2/13/2006

I love this restaurant and have been there at least 20 times with wonderful service each and every time. With the plentiful variety of the substandard buffets all over town, I consider myself lucky to have stumbled upon this place. Every time we've gone there the food has been wonderful, the staff pleasant and prompt, if not a little quirky, and everyone is always smiling. The food is fantastic and the price even moreso. They have the best egg rolls! Kids get their own special treats like cherries and fruit with steamed veggies with their meals and the food is always fresh, hot, and yummy. Definitely check it out! You won't be sorry. more

Perfect everytime... 10/26/2005

My wife and I frequently partake of King Chef's Chinese cuisine and, I must admit, we are grateful we learned of this place. They offer both variety AND quality, the latter often lacking at many of the buffets. The quality of the food is always fresh and flavorful and the service is friendly. I must admit, in reading a previous review, we have never had any problem at all with our order. Our personal fav is the pork lo mein, but you pretty much can't go wrong with any pick. more

These people are clueless 6/18/2005

The food is great if they get your order right. EVERY time I go here the order is wrong and if you try and complain they just don't get it. Tonight we have had to make three trips, I wrote the carry out order on paper and it is still wrong. Then they argued with me when I said I was shorted a container of fried rice. I spent 75 dollars on a carry out feast for my husband's fathers day and they are arguing with me over a container of fried rice. By the time I finally got the order right and home half of it was cold. These people are clueless and I will never order from them again. more

Simply the best 6/20/2004

Best thing this side of dim sum! For two folks who've eaten a LOT of Chinese in New York, Chicago, & San Francisco, we BOTH feel KC rates right up there with the middle of the pack (not saying the best, mind you) of those cities' Chinatowns, and THAT, folks is saying something!. Jack & Erica are the consummate hosts; the place is stylish, cozy & clean; the food is consistent, fresh & terrific. Great off-menu items: Singapore Noodles (curry!), Princess Shrimp & sublime Egg Foo Yung (especially the pork version). Their Egg-Drop Soup has no peer, but Yen Cheng still beats them on the Hot n Sour (that's the ONLY dish they do). Best menu dishes: Sizzling Beef, Moo-Goo-Gai-Pan, Orange-Flavor Beef, Yui-Shan Pork, House Beef, Kung-Pao Chicken, Chow Mein & Tofu Family-Style. I'd say the Fish with Black Bean Sauce too, if it were grilled/sauteed rather than deep-fried. -fudgai Pros: top-quality ingreds., caters to one's whim, solicitous, efficient Cons: , no road visibility more

Outstanding 4/11/2004

Best of everything. Have been eating here since it opened. Not only would I recommend all menu items but even some not on the menu. (Don't let it get out but if you ask nicely and they are not completely swamped...best egg foo yung (sp) in town.) Service superior even down to the refills on water. Never empty. And prices are right. Last recommendation is the crab rangoon appetizer. I'd almost offer to reimburse you for anything you didn't like...I feel that confident on all...except egg rolls...just ok. Try carry out and see. Pros: Inexpensive, Good food, Convenient parking more

Service was slow 10/31/2003

The service was really slow when we were there. We only saw our waiter or waitress 2 or 3 times the whole time we are there. The food is good and the price is fine but the service needs to be better. more

Mmmmmm Good! 11/14/2002

Great food! I would reccomend this resturant to anyone wanting great food for a great price. more

Not bad at all 6/28/2002

Apparently the secret's out, because this place is getting pretty popular. If you're looking for a buffet, keep looking, this is menu only. But the menu is far more extensive than many local chinese restaurants. Service is speedy and polite, prices are fair, and food is very good. The vegetables are perfectly prepared, meats are thinly sliced and tender. Sadly, the sauces are only average and fail to elevate the entrees to true chinese greatness. more
