Editorial review from Citysearch 10/17/2012

When I travel, I tend towards local cuisine and cuisine I've never tried before. Today was my first for Vietnamese. So considering that I have nothing to compare to, I'll say that it's very good. It's also very unique, not really comparing \r with anything else I've every tried. \r \r Upon the recommendation of friends, I tried Beef Pho which was served very fresh, very hot, very flavorful, and with what was to me a unique combination of accompaniments (but what I think is actually traditional): bean sprouts, fresh \r basil, jalapenos and lime wedges on the side.\r \r Following the lead of my lunch companions, and in order, I proceeded to \r 1) push the beef deeper into the noodles to finish cooking, 2) rip up the fresh basil into small pieces and stir in, 3) add the jalapeno slices so they could cook, and 4) squeeze a lime wedge and drop it in.\r \r There are a variety of sauces at the table to add. I'd advise trying the Pho first, test each of the sauces, and then add (if necessary) as your taste buds dictate. You'll find a combination that's perfect for you. \r \r Great service, fresh/hot/traditional food, and a warm inviting atmosphere. I'll be going back to try other items on the menu.\r \r more

The very best Vietnamese food. 9/13/2011

I was surprised to discover such good Vietnamese food right here in Layton. The menu starts with three types of hand made egg rolls both fresh and fried served with peanut sauce. You will find a wide selection of Pho's, soups, rice dishes, Lo Mein, and fondue to name a few. The service is always good and the owner oversees every detail and is helpful with describing the many menu items. From the cold beer to the fried bananas you wont be disappointed. more

The worst owner ever 8/15/2011

I worked there for only a short period of time but I have to say the owner Beverly is terrible. She is so cheap and mean. She called me in to work when she went to travel and needed some one to work or when the restaurant was busy but sent me home when it was not. She did that too me because I didn't get tip, and she had to pay me 7.25/hour. She kept the other waitress whose salary is 2.15/ hour plus tip when the restaurant has no customer because she only need to pay this waitress 2.15/hour. If you work there she will rip you off. She came in late every morning when all the table were served, just going to say hi to customers or giving them more water and then she will take half of your tip. I didn't get tip when I was working there, so I didn't really care about the tip but I saw her pulling out the tip from the cup ( this tip is supposed to give to the waitress) where the tip is kept untill the end of the day without other waitress' notice. She didn't let the waitress to count the tip at the end of the day but she counted it and gave some to the waitress. She always hided some for herself and gave the waitress less than they deserved. This woman really suck. She smiles to customer but talks bad about them behind their backs. Don't ever work there. If you are the customer look carefully at your bill. She is cheating with the price too. more

The WORST customer service I've ever received. 10/13/2010

I had to rate with the star code and did not have the option to leave it blank. The food is good, but when humiliated and treated poorly, it does't matter how good the food is, people will not go. I took my brother, with my children, here to have him experience Pho. I've been a couple of different times because I enjoy their food, but when I purchased vouchers from a restaurant website for Kim Long, wanting to eat there more with a discounted price, I was treated unkindly and simply unwanted. When using my purchased, same as cash voucher, the owner Beverly would explain how she was loosing money and needed to pay the rent and cooks. She was extremely reluctant in taking these, which is crazy! My husband and his business partners had similar experiences. This last time was very uncomfortable. While I was eating, this same owner came up behind me and took the Lord's name in vain repeatedly about my 11 month old twins' mess they were making on her tile floor. I was very well aware of this, after all, they are children. I felt I was keeping the area as clean as possible. We had a waitress take our order and bring the food, but that was all. I had my glass of water spill on my lap when she brought the food and I needed napkins that weren't brought. There was water everywhere. The owner Beverly said that the waitress didn't want to serve our table any longer and quit! I really don't believe this. My children were very well behaved and I cleaned up our own dishes and messy floor when finished. I've never had these issues before at a restaurant and we go out to eat more than 3 times a week. more

Yummy 9/24/2010

I surfed the web looking for a restaurant that served good Pho. I found all that and more in Kim Long's. The Pho with chicken that I had was mouth watering. ( I believe the chicken was grilled or roasted and it was so tender.) The broth was just right. On top of that, I had to have the spring rolls with peanut sauce. The final compliment to the meal was the cup of coffee. If you haven't been, go there. The food is wonderful. The service is outstanding AND they take the time to talk to you. more

Excellent food and service. The pho is phenomenal and so is the fried rice. The boba drinks are one of the best I've had. I recommend this to any person who wants to enjoy a good meal. more

the best food and service 5/6/2010

Pho-nomenal! 9/26/2008

Easily the best Pho in Utah. We also had bun and rolls which were excellent. Everything is clearly fresh and handmade and seasoned authentically. Plenty of servers when we were there, but the owner also took the time to chat with us and tell us exactly how they make their pho broth (a 48-hour process!). Travel great distances to eat here. It is worth it, and you can look smugly across the parking lot at the fools going in and out of Applebees. Pros: Best Version of the Best Food on the Planet: PHO!!! Cons: In a strip mall in Layton more

Best Vietnamese Food in Utah!!! 3/8/2007

Kim Long had the best tasting vietnamese food ever! I've had vietamese in LA, Boston, NYC, and throughout SLC and the taste at Kim Long was the freshest and best to my complete surprise! I love the Kim Long Rolls and the BBQ Shrimp is absolutely the best! If I lived in Utah I would become a regular. My parents have already started to eat their once a week because the prices are so cheap! We had no problem being served and the owner even recommended this great avocado boba tea which was delicious! \r This restaurant is a must if you are passing by Layton, it is right by the mall off the freeway. A complete but delightful surprise! Pros: Cheap Great Tasting Food! Fresh Ingredients! Great Pho, BBQ Shrimp, BBQ Pork, and Spring Rolls! Cons: No Cons for food this cheap and great tasting...not to mention healthy as well! more

Servers missing 1/15/2007

They have their servers missing. Every single time when i go in, the owner is the only person who does everything from cooking to serve. That delays a lot of time thinking how normal vietnamese restaurant's food come out quick. Plan ahead before you go. more

Great Food! Great Price! 10/9/2006

We are always looking for great new restaurants. I first went here 3-4 months ago and was very impressed. My family and I have since been back 3 more times. We have tried something different on the menu every time and have loved it all. The food and service are excellent. Many meals are priced at around $6 (great for those on a budget). For us it has become one of our new comfort foods. Try the Boba drinks! more
