Killer Shrimp is leaving the Marina :( 6/23/2008

Just dined there last night, and learned that after 20 years the best shrimp place in the area will be closing. I can recall many late night drives to Killer Shrimp for the shrimp and pasta! Get there before the last day and have a bowl of the shrimp and pasta! The chocolate cake is also excellent.\r \r Bye, Killer Shrimp - you will be missed!!\r \r Pros: Near the beach Cons: Parking can be a challenge more

Killer Shrimp has Killer Shrimp 5/29/2008

I love this place. I have been a customer since 1990. I have visited all locations and everything is consistant. The food and the service is great. Too bad this location is closed, but the Marina Del Rey branch (The original location) is still around. Happy shrimping. Pros: Everything more

Closed Studio City Location 3/1/2008

Today, my date and I just attempted to go on an afternoon date here at Killer Shrimp. He hadn't been to this location within a year... He has been to the other location in West Los Angeles within the last 6 months! But he assured me that both locations have killer food! Unfortunately, he arrived there (traffic was horrible today, so he beat me), the sign was down and the placed was closed. :( Too bad, I heard good things about this restaurant.... I guess I will have to go to West LA for some Killer Shrimp. more

Gotta love Killer Shrimp 1/21/2008

I LOVE Killer Shrimp! The menu is simple, but the food is excellent! I love dipping the bread in the spicy broth. The service is nothing extraordinary but I really like the atmosphere. This restaurant in definitely in my top five. Pros: Great food Cons: A little pricey more

if you haven't tried it - you definitely must try it! 8/14/2007

I like Killer Shrimp - although I must admit my girlfriends are a little more gung-ho than I am. But definitely try it if you like spicy and unique. Get the original in-shall shrimp. Lots and lots of lemon will be needed too. I think the shrimp are kind of bland - but the broth is yummy. Have some wine - great for a girls dinner. Don't forget the chocolate cake........mmmmmmm Pros: Unique, spicy, eat with your hands Cons: Eat with your hands, can be bland more

Cozy Little Shrimp Eatery 7/15/2007

I got to start off by saying I love this place since the first time I went there. The short menu of Shrimp in a soupy dish. The spices and flavoring is great to dip the bread in. The ambiance of the place a bit on the dark side but I dont mind because it is quite cozy with friendly service added each and every time Ive dined there. There is always parking. Pros: Great spicy flavored broth with shrimp Cons: a bit pricey, no butter available for bread more

Shrimp, Shrimp, and Shrimp 2/9/2006

The place has a limited menu because it only serves shrimp. But that is their forte. The broth is very, very tasty, and having it with a side of rice or bread can warm the belly. If you don't want to get messy pay the $2.00 to have the shrimp pealed. The Cesar Salad was was excellent. I can't wait to go back and try the shrimp with rice. The server said to order the rice on the side. Pros: Good Shrimp, Fun, Spicy Cons: Dark more

how is this place still open? 11/7/2005

all i can say about this place is, WHAT A DUMP. the walls of this place are painted dark and the lighting is equally so, probably so you won't see what your food looks like. and the food, you ask? a big bowl of spicy shrimp drowned and swimming in OIL. if you consider greasy shrimp a good meal, you've found your haven. personally, picking the shells off of oily shrimp and eating them is not my idea of a good meal. DISGUSTING is the best adjective i can find for this place. Cons: bad food, slow service more

Killer Shrimp Kills The Appetite 9/4/2005

Looking forward to a fabulous seafood dinner, dont attempt to find it at this restaurant. Ambiance was less than favorable as was the rude service. The waitresses would rather run behind the bar where there were not any customers to serve than to answer any questions one has regarding the menu. I was trying to find out about the spice intensity of the food. The waitress was very snappy and walked away in the middle of the conversation. Negative food marks would include stale bread, veins in your shrimp in the shrimp cocktail as well as in the Original Bread Bowl dish. If you dont mind those veins, then you wont mind the ones in the shrimp pasta dish which are only half removed. They are certainly diligent though in taking your bill and wishing you a good night. Pros: Collecting your bill Cons: Poor Service, Poor quality food more

YUM! 8/21/2005

I LOOOOVE the bread and shrimp item. It is a slightly spicy, soupy "stew" that you eat with dipping the bread. It is sooo delicious and it is definitely enough for two adults to share. Another time I tried the shrimp and pasta which was not as impressive. I will never get that again. The only damper is the ambience. Its dim, but not really in a romantic kind of way and its kind of a mood killer. I would probably go there more often if it werent for the ambience. Pros: food Cons: ambience more

YUMMY! 8/17/2005

Killer Shrimp is delish! Although I was shocked they only had 3 menu items, it was okay. I chose the shrimp in the sauce, put the bib on, and went grabbing for shrimp and bread. Not for those who dont like to get dirty eating. Their sauce is great and my brother and I finished up the whole bowl. Recommended for shrimp lovers like myself. Order 1 thing for 3 people- trust me! Pros: good shrimp, delicious, friendly staff Cons: no menu options more

Consistent for 15 years+ 7/22/2005

My 1st time at K.S. was in 1986, most recent - 3 days ago. The food is always awesome. The taste from your first experience has sent me over the edge with mad cravings for the steaming broth in big white bowls, with the slice fresh soft french bread ready for dipping! Stop & get a the kiddies a Happy Meal, wear a bib and CHOW DOWN! Save room for that decadent sweet potatoe pecan pie with homemade whipped cream!! My mom took me, and now I take everyone I know! Take out is great too! Can be romantic outside on deck (MDR) with a full moon! Pros: CONSISTENCY, Fast Service, Great waitresses Cons: One bathroom, Parking is trying, Sat. nite, long lines more

Best Shrimp, Best Ceasar, Best Pecan Pie 6/18/2005

They only serve what they are great at. Their menu consists of shrimp over rice, pasta or in an amazing stew with bread to dip. And for $1 extra you can get them peeled. The best ceasar dressing I have ever had and the pecan pie is perfection. I don't recommend this place if you don't eat shrimp. It is all they serve. Great Food! Pros: Sauce on Shrimp, Location, Salad Cons: Lack of Variety, decor is dated more

awesome shrimp! 6/6/2005

I tried this place after reading reviews here. Get the shrimp & bread combo. The shrimp isn't peeled so you gotta de-vein the shrimp but the broth is where it's at. The shrimp & rice isn't as good because the rice sucks up all the broth. The shrimp, broth and bread go excellent with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I'd go tear it up over there any time. more

Mouthwatering Shrimp and Bread 3/6/2005

Killer shrimp is tucked away on the second story of a strip mall. It is darkly lit by pillar candles, and the seating reminds one of Denny's. Don't be turned off by the atmosphere, because you'll miss out on a delectable broth seasoned with shallots, chili and butter, filled with large, fresh shrimp. Don't skip the sweet potato/pecan pie, it is topped with fresh cream. The wine is cheap and decent. Pros: Fresh Shrimp, Music Cons: Atmosphere more

KILLER Shrimp 1/23/2005

My boyfriend took me out on valentines to Killer Shrimp. He has always talked this place up, and I was both curious and excited to finally go. I was amazed! I love shrimp, and the taste even exceeded my expectations. If you love shrimp, Killer Shrimp is a MUST! I love Killer Shrimp, I'm even going back to take him out this valentines day! more
