Omg I love Dr.Cowan he was great for my kids if it had not been for insurance problems my kids would still be there. But we will be back one day soon!!!!! more

I was referred to Dr.Cowan by several individuals. Dr.Cowan came to visit me when I on was bed rest and came to visit my baby when he was born. This showed me a lot about his character. Dr.Cowan takes time with each patient , he looks at every detail about your child. I will be honest I left Dr.Cowan because of the wait time , however I have returned. Others doctors rush you in and rush you out without determining what the problem is or making sure everything else is ok. Going to another Doctor made me appreciated Dr.Cowan more , I know I am not waiting because he is lolly gagging I am waiting because he is taking this same time that he takes with my son. We love Dr.Cowan and we will not be trying anyone else ever again. I will wait all day knowing that when I leave I know exactly whats wrong with my child. more

Dr. James Cowan, III is an excellent Pediatrician. He came highly recommended by two people that I trust and respect. He is very thorough and patient with his little babies. He's also very patient with 1st time parents. Before I had my daughter, I had a consulation meeting with Dr. Cowan. One of the questions that I asked him was how does he deal with/handle 1st time, over anxious, panicky parents. He said that he's very patient and gentle with them, just like he is with his babies. That was no lie! I called Dr. Cowan's office a million times about my daughter and each time, he and his staff were very patient with me and assured me that everthing was okay. I really needed that support and reassurance from them. Dr. Cowan is very, very smart and knowledgeable. He knows his medical stuff. He's gonna give you a detailed, well explained explanation about what's wrong with your child and how to fix it. He is an awesome doctor. Pros: Dr. Cowan is the best Pediatrician in Memphis Cons: Waiting room time is very long, but it's worth it. The quality of care is excellent. more

My son suddenly began having seizures. Hospitalized for 4 days and no pediatrician or neurologist could figure it out. Displeased with my pediatric group, I remembered my OB had recommended Cowan before my son was born. I called Dr. Cowan in tears, he talked with me on the phone for over 25 minutes and said that my son may have a rare form of epilepsy. Two days and several pediatrician's and neurologist's later (and many seizures) the pediatric neurologists concluded that it was indeed what Dr. Cowan had said it was! After 2 more weeks in the hospital my son is now doing well. I tell everyone about Dr. Cowans care and compassion. You may wait awhile in the lobby to see him because of the individualized care that he give each patient...and your baby's health is well worth the wait!!!
