Our roof needed fixed from hail damage. We did not trust the drive-by-roofing company (who turned out to be in business for 1 yr) even though they got this ball rolling. Our ins. co. said use whomever, so we did research and went with KFS (long time in business and sterling BBB record, plus they could help me on some attic vent/insulation issues).
From start the estimator Kenny Mantooth was extremely nice, friendly, and helpful. The initial price from KFS was scary, especially since my ins. co. had already been out here when I wasn't home (my wife may have told them to go ahead and look) so I had no roofer to point out total damages /areas /measurements which Texas law allows. Anyway KFS worked it out with my ins. From then on it went fast, Kenny let my wife pick out the shingle color and the roof and gutters were done within the next week.
Just a few bumps and these are probably not issues to most people, and some were resolved right away.
No ridge vents put on with roof shingles.
What?
We had discussed it (a big reason I chose KFS, to increase vent/insulation of attic) during initial visit with Kenny. But it got left off the work order/ or contract when roofing crew got started. I called Kenny about the missing ridge vents the next day upon looking at my roof and noticing their non-presence. He had it resolved the next day. And at no charge to top it off!!
Well, anytime I don't have to pay for something, I must say THANKS.
Cleanup was probably 99%, just a misplaced garden hose and a couple shingle scraps left in yard.
Rain sensor was left in yard by gutter-man. Kenny himself put it on for me when I found it. What a nice guy!
One issue still is the shed in backyard was not done. Kenny said it should be accounted for on initial visit when listing thing ins. co. forgot to account for.
Now I feel bad for noticing it, it seems like a lot work on everybody's part to resolve (ins co rebilling, KFS doing...). If resolved I promise to update or re-post a review here.
Payment was a big hassle. Because of the work being done on a holiday week, (i.e. shortened work week) KFS was in a hurry to get payment in from us, and we were reluctant to pay until everything was done (gutters were not done yet). It all got done on a Thursday, and payment was made late Thursday, and me and my wife wished we had known this sort of issue would arise and we would have asked them to do the roof on a different week (that had a full 5 days to complete work, minor adjustments/fixes and get payment).
As a final note, today the owner came by with Kenny M. to give me an estimate on insulation. Which I had wanted quoted at same time as roof quote so i could put it all together as one bill so my wife would be more willing to pay for it. As it stands now I have to convince her to pay even more money on something she views as not necessary now at this moment.
Anyway, frustrations of a married man aside.
The owner Kenneth Farmer is just as nice as all those in his employ. I do hope to do business again soon.
Overall a very stand-up, honest company.
I am pleased by their services.
Pros: professional, courteous, fast
Cons: a dropped detail
