My son went to this business when he was 10 years old and he now has permanents hand damage from in supervised sparring ..

Great program, great instructor 11/20/2012

My daughter has been attending Kevin’s school for 3 years. We have tried out other schools and found that Kevin offers the best program for us. We found that all schools focus on technique but the difference is that Kevin also focuses on behavior, self-esteem and performance at school. These are the qualities in my child that I want to foster. I'm convinced the negative reviews on here are from someone who has never attended any classes. more

Waste of money 8/22/2012

My friend and I tired to take a kickboxing class here and it was sooo lame. Like a joke! We were never taught any real moves even when the owner did step in to do a few kicks he was outta breath in like 10 minutes!!! Yea like that's who you want to learn from? someone who can't even workout for 10 minutes without getting winded. Lol. more

Nothing productive here!!! 8/3/2012

My wife and I have never been less impressed with a karate studio. As a father of 4 and a former athlete I have always found sports and karate a big part of my life and a strong foundation to bulid a child's ambitions and confidence. Walking into this studio was anything but a confidence building experience. kids are talked down to here and belittled and Kevin Sullivan is a bully, to kids and the parents who are constantly disrespected by Kevin, I pray he has no kids of his own!!! There should be a criminal background check on him something VERY off about him please ask around before you send your kids here. I still feel bad to this day I took my children to this studio and around Kevin Sullivan. more

Bad choice 7/18/2012

Our experience has been a truly negative one. He was more concerned about signing the kids up for a contract and pushing his marketing materials on anyone and everyone. He was rude, disrespectful and is not the right authority figure for kids. His place is messy and has been that way for years! I doubt he has good repeat business and has turned away more clients/customers than anything. Comments from other parents are similar. He has been known to argue with the parents and intimidate kids to the point of crying. Beware of this man and his establishment more

Don't go here 6/25/2012

I would not recommend this school to anyone! My children didn't learn proper karate at all (which was obvious when we enrolled them in another karate studio close by). When me and my wife asked any question we were only met with angry confrontation and unwarranted insults. more

Sleazy teacher 6/17/2012

It seem " trainer" Kevin uses this business to try and flirt with all the mothers in a VERY inappropriate way in front of the children VERY UNCOMFORTABLE and out of line didn't even wanna give one star more

Instructor kevin is violent 6/17/2012

The training my children received here was a joke when I actually decided to pull them out of the class after kevin had a violent episode and started yelling and swearing at a mom and her daughter I immediately enroll them in a real karate school I realized just how big of a joke he was more

So exciting!!! 6/1/2012

I attend kickboxing classes with Kevin Sulivan and I am so incredibly excited and motivated!! Kickboxing is a phenomenal workout in a non-judgemental atmosphere. He plays upbeat music and provides continuous motivation in a positive way. The space and equipment at the studio is perfect. I have so much fun when I work out at Grandmaster Sullivan's studio, and the awesome feelings carry over into my everyday life. I have also enrolled my son in Grandmaster Sullivan's karate classes and feel confident that these classes will help him build character, reinforce a respectful attitude and ultimately support the healthy lifestyle that every parent wants their child to practice. I would recommend Kevin Sullivan's classes to anyone who wants to work on their fitness and health in a fun and comfortable environment. I would recommend them to any parent that wants to support and encourage their children to live in a healthy way and view challenges with a positive attitude. more

To whom this may concern. 5/31/2012

I have been with Grand Master Kevin Sullivan for four years now. I would like to say he earned that title Grand Master, because he has taught me more than I could ever imagine. He is a great man, he has taught me more then self-defense. He has taught me the value in life and how to talk my way out of situations rather than to escalate them any farther. When I first started class with him I could only do about fifty pushups in the beginning, but though the mental focus he instilled in me, now everyone can see that I can push out two hundred pushups in one set and I’m still climbing. I work very hard at everything I do now. I volunteer my time and I help coach a middle school wrestling team. I am great at defending myself now whether it’s one on one, multiple attackers or weapons defends. Given into consideration, I find no school matches Mr. Sullivan’s curriculum. I have many goals in life and I have completed most of them thanks to this man. I refer Grand Master Kevin Sullivan to whoever wants their lives changed for the better. Awesome Experience!! 5/29/2012

I have attended both self-defense and cardio kickboxing classes with Kevin for many years. Over this time I have lost 30 pounds and feel comfortable defending myself. Kevin is a very motivational and inspirational instructor and provides a wonderful learning environment that is fun. I love the music, and the other students and ladies are wonderful and the atmosphere is as awesome as the classes! I would recommend the classes (and have!) to all of my friends and brought them down. If you thought you have had a karate or cardio experience, you need to have this better experience. I am super looking forward to getting toned for the beach now that I have lost my goal weight :) I love the feeling of getting healthier mind and body with the confidence building I have received from training with Kevin Sullivan. more

Great Experience 5/26/2012

Great experience, enjoyed all of my classes! Only complaint is soreness after good workouts! Have experienced classes at other schools & fortunately I was able to come back. This experience gave me confidence and so much more. I'd recommend this school for anyone looking for self-improvement in health or attitude. more

Great Experience 5/22/2012

Kevin Sullivan’s Black Belt School’s of America has been a great experience for my son. My son had very low confidence after a teacher told him he would always struggle in school so he believed it. He didn’t think he was good at anything. Since joining your school what a change I have seen. He went from being the quiet shy kid with no confidence to a more confident outgoing young man. He would struggle in math and we would sit for hours as he had such a negative attitude about it. Now it comes easier after learning to concentrate and to have a better attitude. He has jumped a full grade and is now meeting grade level expectations. He participates in school activities something he would not do before. I like that respect for others along with self discipline, self worth and teamwork are a major part of the program. Grandmaster teaches self defense but most of all he teaches them to respect family, friends and our country. He teaches them to be productive citizens in the community and to not be followers. He also teaches them to listen and focus something my son had trouble with. I definitely see a change in this area. He is more focused in school and it shows in his work. I like that in order for them to graduate to the next belt academics need to be in order as well as home life. This makes the kids try harder because they want to move up. Grandmaster, I would like to thank you for all that you’ve done for my family. I have a more confident son who is doing much better in school. You teach these kids to push hard for what they want and to not give up because something is hard. You run a great program and I recommend it to everyone. Keep up the good work and remember YOU ROCK!! Stacy - Bristol more

Awesome school! 5/21/2012

Dear Grand Master, I am writing this letter as a testimonial as to how I feel about your karate school. My husband and I enrolled our girls last fall for Karate due to the fact we wanted the girls to participate in a activity where they would have fun but also teach them how to defend themselves.  Little did We understand that these classes would reinforce what we are teaching the girls at home. Respect, honor, humility, confidence and acceptance. My eldest is a very sensitive girl who with any constructive criticism would cry. In fact the first few classes she did. Now she is able to take criticism well and is able to turn it around into a positive experience.  It is hard to find activities that don't expose our girls to negative things, give them complexes about their bodies, or make them think it is ok to move their bodies in an inappropriate manner. We are so happy the girls can work towards achieving higher belts and higher standards in life. Thank you and we look forwards to many more years of achievement. Sincerely, The Cordero's more

Good experience 5/21/2012

A few years back, after a talk with Grandmaster Sullivan, we knew we had to sign up with his school. What attracted us the most was the schools philosophy; were good sportsmanship, leadership and character comes first. After the first year we started seeing improvements in our son’s self discipline, respect and academics. Kids learn good old fashioned values and karate skills in a fun and safe environment. They also learn how to deal with bullies and peer pressure. Again and again, GM Sullivan reminds the kids how important family is and how they can be good members of their family and society. He teaches how important education is and how to reach their full potential. Our son who was more of a follower, showed initiative and got on the student council this year. Thanks to the karate school, he has more confidence and is showing more leadership skills. For us as parents, it is good to know that Grandmaster has our backs if we have an issue and nothing works. He knows how to work with kids and really enjoys his work. As a parent I have an opportunity to be an example for my son by taking the adult class. If I see a lack of motivation in my son, I need to say only one sentence: “I’m only one belt away from you”. Next thing you know he’s back in class and working hard:) On top of that, I get a great workout and learn self defense in fun, dynamic class. Karate parent and student Asta more

Great Experience 5/21/2012

May 10, 2012 To Whom It May Concern: We are the proud parents of a student at Kevin Sullivan’ Black Belt Karate School. Dominic expressed interest in karate school after an “awesome” birthday party for one of his friends. He had just turned 5 years old. This was a little more than a year ago. We could not be happier with the experience we have had with Grand Master Sullivan and his class. Within weeks Dominic’s coordination and athleticism had improved markedly. He routinely made “head high” kicks when, just weeks earlier when we first arrived; he had trouble kicking knee high. The improved coordination is evident now that he is playing T-Ball and is around other children in an athletic environment. Dominic has also shown improvement in the other areas that Grand Master Sullivan stresses in his class. Dominic’s focus, discipline and respect for family, God and country are all enhanced by his time in class. We are so satisfied with the classes we wanted to send our 4 year old Jacob to karate class. He had not been too keen on the idea until the night of Dominic’s belt test. Even at 4 years old we could tell he was impressed with the display put on that night by his brother and his class mates. That night he asked, “When do I start karate?” So now we are the proud parents of TWO students at Kevin Sullivan’s Black Belt Karate School. We highly recommend Mr. Sullivan and his school to anyone interested is having their children in a learning environment focused on both the body and the mind. Sincerely, Frank and Jennifer Guzzardi more

Open Letter From the owner 5/21/2012

Open Letter From Kevin Sullivan, I would like to thank all of the Parents, Students, Teachers, Doctors, Police Officers, Military Personnel, Veterans, Fellow Martial Artists, Colleges, and others, that I have had the pleasure of providing training for. I have learned a lot about life from them and I am eternally grateful for their rock solid support. I'm aware of some of the made up declarations about me that appear on the Internet and in reviews posted by known persons as well as many anonymous unknown persons. I've seen some of them. Some are funny. Some are pretty far out there. Some I would not dignify with a response. Being more a student of the Martial Arts and a positive lifestyle, than the wild, wild web-world of the Internet, I'm not quite sure what to make of it all. It's quite surprising. I do know that boys will be boys and you can’t please everyone. I neither take offense nor do I take these things too seriously. Who knows, maybe these made up declarations will lead people to seek out the real facts, as found in my recently updated website’s Testimonial Recommendation Letters, Awards, Citations, Thank You Letters, Championship Titles that I won in NASKA and KRANE Tournament Competitions as well as, the Photos. Meeting me in person is a great option and you can see the originals of any letters, awards or photos. I look forward to meeting anyone interested. I'm very proud of these accomplishments and the efforts of other people putting their name on the record and department’s with their endorsement of me, and my teachings. I shall remain forever grateful to all of the wonderful people I have met and served throughout the years. I wish all my critics, real or imaginary all the best. I wish all of my supporters the absolute best as well as my humble gratitude for allowing me into your lives and to of been privileged to have served you. I have only good intentions for all. Good- bye for now, God Bless and all the Best! Kevin Sullivan more

We love this school!!! 5/2/2012

My husband and I are very proud parents of two children that attend Kevin Sullivan’s Black Belt School. When we first met Kevin we were so impressed with the importance he places on respect, family, country, and faith. At first we only enrolled our 5 year old son…little did we know just by watching the classes our little 2 year old would also fall in love with the program. For months our son attended class and for months we were continually impressed with Kevin’s teaching style, and the results we were getting with our son. Our son was not only learning karate moves and self defense strategies but more importantly he was learning life lessons. He was learning to respect and encourage others, he was learning to respect his elders and teachers, and the best part was that he was having a BLAST doing it. Kevin makes class a perfect blend of learning and fun. After a few months of watching my son, my 2 year old daughter who barely speaks in full sentences was found in her room reciting the full Kota that the students learned in class complete with kicks and punches. She would beg to go to Karate class with her brother and we finally enrolled her. She has also reaped all the benefits of class and has really found her strong, focused little self. We love that in order to test into a new belt category a student not only needs to be able to do Karate but must also prove that they are being a good family member, a good friend, and a good academic student. Kevin’s students will leave his instruction as well rounded, respectful, independent members of their families, schools, and ultimately society as a whole. Jessica and David Niek more

Excellent Experience 5/1/2012

Kevin Sullivan's Black Belt Schools of America has been an important part of a remarkable change in my daughter's life. She has gone from being a student who had problems focusing, so that the normal classroom environment was too distracting for her to learn to read and solve math problems to one who is meeting or exceeding grade level expectations in almost all areas of her schoolwork. A year ago, she did not want to be involved in any extracurricular activities (even though she showed high levels of ability in dance and gymnastics) because she did not want to perform in front of people. Shy. Now, not even a year later, she can't wait for parent viewing nights in her karate class, is a member of the student council, and is known in our neighborhood as "the Mayor", for her friendly ways. Of course, some of the change can be attributed to normal maturation, but the continuity and personalized attention she gets from Grandmaster Sullivan's program is unique and effective. Discipline and respect are carefully cultivated in Grandmaster's dojo, as much as fun and love of Karate. No two classes are ever the same, as one day the students might be running and doing calisthenics, or, the next class, they might focus on leadership skills. Every class my daughter has attended has offered her a good balance of karate technique and philosophy. From the very beginning, to this day, my daughter is so excited to attend karate class, her interest and determination has not waned a bit! The most important benefit we've recieved, though is the boost in my daughter's self confidence. If there's anything outside of karate class that is a challenge to her, all I have to do is remind her of her accomplishments in karate to remind her of what she can do. She cannot argue with the fact that she could only do a few push ups when she started karate, but can now do more than some of her older brother's friends. She also has experienced, first hand, how discipline and tenacity have benefitted her in and out of the dojo. more
