a wonderful martial arts/karate studio for kids 2/1/2010

The Kenyon’s have a wonderful way of teaching kids. Kids of all ages adore and respect them. Their teaching incorporates a profound knowledge of the history, philosophy, theory and practice of martial arts and innate pedagogic skills. Master Kenyon explains the theory behind each complex form that the student will acquire as second nature and that form the building blocks of this discipline. What I also like is the sheer joy and laughter that emerges between the at first shy but increasingly powerful kia during warm up and training. As children get older, some classes are taught by two or more highly qualified teachers that greatly complement Master Kenyon’s classes. Each teacher contributes to a different aspect of the students’ enrichment. Elements of philosophy, meditation, yoga, breathing techniques, self defense are incorporated into the training and kids and adults leave the studio uplifted and with a sense of purpose and resolve. Pros: much more than martial arts more

Soo Bahk Do Rules! 1/25/2010

When my husband first suggested that I join him at Kenyon's Soo Bahk Do after my old aerobics gym closed, I was a little leery; martial arts didn't really seem like something women like me got involved in. Boy was I wrong. I have now been studying the traditional Korean martial art of Soo Bahk Do for the past 10 years and I love it. Daymon Kenyon (7th degree) and his wife Vicki (5th degree) are both masters in the art and wonderful instructors. It has been a great experience and I recommend it to everyone, women and children in particular. Pros: Instruction in traditional Korean martial art of Soo Bahk Do more

Finest Martial Arts Instruction in San Diego 1/25/2010

Kenyon's Soo Bahk Do has been in business at the same Pacific Beach location for over 40 years. The business was started by Fred Kenyon in 1968 and is currently run by his son, Daymon Kenyon. Daymon Kenyon is a 7th degree master in the art of Soo Bahk Do and has been my instructor for the past 13 years. Master Kenyon is a knowledgeable and talented martial artist and a dedicated and dynamic instructor. Studying Soo Bahk Do has made me and my wife healthier both physically and mentally. As good as Master Kenyon is at instructing adults, he truly excels when teaching young children. I am constantly amazed by his ability to keep a class of 5-7 year-olds focused and attentive. If you are interested in learning the martial arts or are looking for a martial arts program for your children, you can't go wrong with Kenyon's Soo Bahk Do. Pros: Teaches the traditional Korean martial art of Soo Bahk Do more
