A Cultural Theater Experience 6/19/2006

The Kentucky Theatre is a perfect movie theater experience. The architecture of the theaters (There's the Kentucky Theatre and the State Theatre) is visually stimulating; the refreshments include normal theater fair, like soda and candy, as well as locally-produced Kizito cookies and domestic and imported beers; the films are great and the Kentucky is often the only place in Lexington you can see them (typically foreign, independent, classic or art films). This is one of the few alternatives to going to a bar in Lexington and it's a so much more fun. Oh, and don't miss the Rocky Horror Picture Show - it's an experience! I love this place! more

Beer and movies = perfect! 8/19/2005

Kentucky theater offers a wide variety of movies. They have a classic movie night which is lots of fun. It is always better to see a movie at the theater and now you can with some of your older favorites! Did I mention that the theater sells beer? This is probably one of the coolest things about the theater! The Kentucky theater also offers music. They host the Woodsongs. This is also a good time! more

Kentucky Theatre 8/17/2005

The Kentucky Theatre is one of only a handful of free standing movie theaters left in America. It is a beautiful place and is a wonderful place to see a movie or a concert. The management tries very hard to honor the uniqueness of the theater by picking a wide variety of movies and events for the theater, The midnight movies are a must for any film buff. Another great thing is they serve alcohol so you can have a beer with your movie and popcorn. more

Movies you can't see anywhere else in Lexington 7/26/2005

The Kentucky Theatre, housed in its original 1922 movie palace (refurbished and *gorgeous*!), shows excellent movies and art films and hosts the weekly live taping of the Woodsongs Oldtime Radio Hour, as well as the Troubadour Concert Series. Snack bar offers variety of candies, chocolates, popcorn, sodas and other drinks. Parking is available for all theatre events one block down from the theatre (on the left) at the ANNEX GARAGE, just a very short walk from the theatre. The Kentucky Theatre is also located close to Natasha's Cafe, where you can enjoy the unique European coffeehouse atmosphere while you dine and sample their delectable coffees. A perfect date night destination. more
