Crusted Brie 8/26/2010

You can't miss this place: If you are ever in the Hillcrest area in San Diego you can't miss eating at Kemo Sabe. They have the BEST fusion of native american, asian and mexican cuisines. Make sure you try the Crusted Brie cheese appetizer. The presentation itself is worth ordering it! more

Great Local Flavor 12/19/2007

The other nite, my sister and I decided to check out Kemo Sabe, out in the Hillcrest area. We had received the recommendation from a co-worker, and were interested to try it. For the most part, my sister and I try to avoid chains, and check out the local scene as much as possible. We started out with the navajo bi pie, which was excellent. Our server referred to it as a ""Mexican Pizza,"" and it was topped with beans, an assortment of other vegetables, shrimp and chicken. For our entrees, I ordered the kahluha glazed peanut short ribs and my sister got the lamb. The ribs were AMAZING. I honestly could have eaten the sauce with just rice and been just fine, it was that good. The lamb was well prepared, though didn't seem to have an overwhelming flavor of any sort (which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it). Both our dishes were topped with carrots which were used as a garnish, which we could have done without. The portions were very sizable too, as my sister and I found ourselves unable to finish our meals. That didn't stop us from looking at the dessert menu, which though we didn't try, we certainly did get excited for. Our server was very attentive and knowledgable of the menu, which always helps. In short, this place was nothing short of wonderful, and we certainly hope to go back soon! Pros: Selection of high quality food, service Cons: parking more

GREAT FOOD! 7/15/2007

Kemo Sabe is fabulous. The food is always prepared very well and I always bring people from out of town to dine here... for the ambiance, the artistic food, and the amazing flavor combinations. All of the fish dishes are amazing and the nut crusted brie is almost a meal in itself! Definitely try the blueberry cheesecake dessert with the cookie things (I can't remember the name). It is absolutely divine. You should never go without a coupon or some sort of special (4 items for $30). Get on the e-mail list for Cohn Restaurants and call for the Uptown and Downtown magazine for coupons. It makes the cost of the meal MUCH more palatable! They also have Tobin James wine, one of my faves, so that also gets them an above average in my book! You will not be disappointed if you want to wow someone with an amazing meal. Make a reservation, though!! I have eaten here probably over 15 times over the past 3 years. Never had a bad experience. Pros: glorious food presentation and it tastes amazing also Cons: can get VERY busy more
