Buyer Beware
I contracted a propane gas to natural gas conversion job with this company on the terms of actual labor costs per an hourly rate and material costs. This was after a very detailed conversation of what needed to be done with their serviceman and also the company owner. I received a very detailed estimate of hours needed for the job and materials cost estimates, but company owner would only do the job based on billing labor and materials.
Final bill when presented had the material costs at over 160% of the owner's estimates. They neither offered nor gave me an itemized list of materials, just a total bill for materials and some of the materials installed were used. However, that was good compared to the 400% cost of his labor. That's right the labor cost was 4 times his estimate or in other words the owner charged 4 times the number of hours of his estimate to do the job.
