Short on Ethics 10/9/2012

I was out of town and family member had issue with car not starting. Advised to take to Keiths as they had previously performed some minor maintenance, i.e oil changes and tire repairs. They replaced the alternator, battery and convinced the family member that a new radiator, hoses, clamps, windshield wipers were all needed. To the tune of $1500. The car in question has been owned since new and never had a coolant leak of any kind. Keith's is capable of doing the work, but they aren't cheap and they certainly know how to take advantage of those that aren't car savvy. I won't be back. So much for supporting hometown small business. more

Bartel's is a Better Choice! 12/17/2011

For the past 35years I've handled my own car repairs. Due to my own time restraints, I decided to let Keith's Car Care handle a major repair on my car. Big Mistake! \r I was overcharged and not happy with the requested repairs to my car. I am currently fixing other item's related to the initial repairs they had worked on. \r \r Also, watch out for the "Repair Shell Game". \r This is recommend for any place you take your car. \r Ask questions, do some research, and look for honest answers.\r Don't hesitate to leave and go somewhere else, if your not satisfied with the answers.\r \r My recommendation is "Bartel's Auto Service". Currently that is who I trust. That is where I currently get my car repair advice and any future car repair work I need done. \r tb more

Top Notch Service 8/6/2011

This is an excellent service center. I have been bringing my cars there for a couple of years now. Obviously, the other reviewers are either naive or expect something for nothing (note: you can't compare Internet prices with local service...unless of course you want to wait three days for the part to arrive...and then *you* have to install it) I always get a call *before* a repair is started with a price. And I can choose to have the work done or not. There are no hidden or mysterious charges. I would highly recommend this business to anyone who is looking for an excellent independent service station. more

JUST TO STAY IN BUSINESS 1/3/2011

535 dollars to replace an alternator. A 140.00 part. Can you spell GOUGE!!! Kieth had a well rehersed line to address my inquiries and complaints. "I apolgize for the misunderstaning" was as close to sincerity as he got. Other than that all I got was, "that,s what I got to charge to stay in business." The bill included a "SHOP CHARGE". Keith says all his customers must pay a small percent to heip him pay for stuff he uses on a regular basis. My bill had an additional 42.87 for the shop charge. I guess Keith needs this extra charge just to stay in business. As other reviewers have suggested if money is no object and ethics are of no concern then Keith's is the place for you. Me, I will never give him another chance. more

Overcharged... 12/28/2010

Took my car to Keiths Car Care because it is the closest repair shop to my house. They quoted me $1275 for my repair. I called my normal mechanic and they quoted me $825 for the exact same repair. Don't waste your money at this place... more

World Class Repair Facility!!!! 8/25/2010

Definitely the most user friendly, family oriented shop i've ever been to. We have been going to Keith's for years and would recommend this shop to anyone who wants a QUALITY repair. There have been mistakes made (they are human just like us!!) but they bend over backwards to correct them. Even have gone the extra distance for us several times just to insure our happiness. And who else do you know has a 5 year, 50,000 mile warranty and stands behind it? They may cost a litle more than your corner shop but who wouldn't pay for piece of mind and satisfaction. Go to Keiths for any auto needs. You wont be disappointed. more

Overcharged 7/28/2010

Would not recommend Keith's Car Care to my worst enemy. Overcharges for parts and labor. Was charged for parts and labor I didn't even receive. Although the problem was resolved, and I was credited, this threw up at least a dozen red flags. As I got at least 3-4 different answers as to why this happened. After this I checked labor prices and list prices for parts at several different shops in town, and again found that I had been overcharged. If this was "granny goodrich" she would probably just pay the bill and think Keith was the nicest guy in the world, which is the impression you get from talking to him. My best advice to any unsatisfied customers would be to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at www.chicago.bbb.org. more

Poor customer service. 12/30/2009

Was a customer for over 4 years. Keiths has changed in the last couple years. I had them do all 4 brakes on my minivan. 16,000 miles later the fronts already needed to be replaced. I asked if this was covered under the warranty that is listed on the receipt since no vehicle should burn through brakes that fast. I was told no but I would get free brake pads. This barely reduced the cost and I still had to buy front brakes. I wont be going back. more

Wow. Great customer service. 6/11/2009

Wow! I am very happy to have found a place that cares about it's customers. Everything was checked on my car. Keith and his wife were very attentive. My concerns were addressed completely. When I got in my car there was a thank you note and 2 flags for flag day. This is a place I will return to. Good service at a good price 11/10/2005

We have taken our car to Keith's for oil changes. The service that we have received there has been very good. It is very easy to get your car in, and they do a quick efficient job. The people there have been very friendly. They haven't tried to sell us unneccesary services. The location is very convienent, as you could just walk over to Main Street and go through some shops while waiting for you car. more
