Kauffman Tire Decatur

My experience was similar to Bradillac's. I went to Kauffman's recently driving in with a small spare (""donut"") on one wheel. I purchased two new tires and asked they replace the donut. After an astonishingly long four hour wait I was finally told they were finished. I went to drive away only to find out the donut was still on the same wheel it had been when I drove in! I got the problem resolved after speaking to the manager. When I got home I noticed the donut had simply been tossed in the back having not even been secured in place by the guys who'd worked on my vehicle. I received no apology for the problems I encountered at Kauffman's, poor service, a long wait and prices no better than other places in this area. I've had good experience with Kauffman's elsewhere so my impression is the Decatur location is poorly managed. I advise it be avoided. more

I bought 4 new tires and was told it would take an hour and a half to have them installed. Luckily I went home and waited, because it actually took over 3 hours. When I mentioned to the employee that it took so much longer than they said it would, they adamantly denied having ever said it. Apparently they rushed out my car and didn't bother balancing the tires properly because I'm back again today. I drove on the interstate for the first time since getting the tires installed and once I got up around 70mph the steering wheel started to vibrate like crazy. Today when I brought my car in for them to correct their mistake, the same guy said this time it would take an hour. Since an hour and a half last time actually meant 3 hours, this time I tried to get him to guarantee it would not take any more than one hour. I guess this was an appalling request, because he then tried to deny me service for asking him to make sure it got done within a certain time frame. I'm here wasting my time because they were too lazy to do their job right the first time and they get an attitude with me about it. I honestly can't understand how someone can quote a time and avoid all obligation to stick to that time. Be aware that if you come here and they quote you a time, they are lying through their teeth to get your business. Don't waste your time at this place. the staff is rude and self absorbed and will never admit when they've made a mistake. Don't put you safety in the hands of people too stupid to get a job at real car repair shop. If you value your time, avoid Kauffman Tire at all cost. more

I have purchased several sets of tires here over the years and have been absolutely pleased and completely satisfied every time. You can count on these guys for professional knowledge and advice, as well quick and competent customer service. If you know what you want and need in tires, they will do their best to provide it.
