I am so happy I found Katherine's! I couldn't have been happier with them!
Honestly, I'm shocked by the negative reviews, doesn't even sound like the same store. I got married in May 2011. I first went to Katherine's in Sept. 2010. It was easy to get an appointment. I went early on a Saturday. They were busy, but not crowded, and always attentive. Honestly, this was the most friendly (least snobby) bridal salon I went to (based on 3 others).
TIP to all brides, if you don't want a bridal consultant in the dressing room while you undress -- JUST ASK (POLITELY). (Common sense?) It's customary for the consultant to be in there with you because these dresses are huge, hard to get on, and expensive. But I always asked *politely* if I could have some privacy, and they always gave it to me. (This was true at every salon I went to.) The consultant would turn around or step back in to help me zip up or finish getting into the dress.
I worked with Kathleen and Shanna. They really listened to what I wanted, were so patient when I tried on the same 2 dresses about a thousand times, and never pushy. Their prices were reasonable. The dress came in on time (early actually). Their seamstresses are AMAZING! I worked with Ludy, what a wonderful woman -- so patient and talented!!!! She did beautiful alterations, and made a gorgeous veil. On my wedding day I loved my dress, everyone complimented it, and I felt perfect.
Seriously, I can't think of one complaint. Yes, their parking lot is small. Hello, welcome to Northern Virginia -- be glad they have a parking lot at all and carpool! Yes, they are busy on Saturdays - but so is everyone. Schedule your appointment early, be on time, and have a little patience. I was always greeted with a smile and always looked forward to my appointments there!!
