Karate West

I have been a part of Karate West for my entire life - literally, I started taking classes at Karate West with diapers under my little uniform. Having grown up at Karate West, I feel so blessed to have been surrounded by a warm and encouraging community, fantastic teachers and mentors, and athletic and personal confidence. Now, over 20 years later, I can say with confidence that I would not be the person that I am today without having Karate West in my life. Karate West is simply a great place to be! more

I have been a student with Karate West for a little over 2 years. I first came to Karate West as a nanny taking the kids I nanny for to their class. I would sit and listen to the Life Skills being presented, practiced throughout class, and when we went home they were implimented by the kids. The instruction by Sensei Andrew is awesome, he works with every student on their level and challenges them to improve their skill. The boys I work with love karate and continue to improve, not just as martial artists, but as people. They show more effort with school work, their focus is better, they are even more respectful, and they stand up for what is right. As I sat watching class, I knew I no longer got to be a nanny watching karate class...but a nanny joining a karate class. :) It was the best decision of my life. I love Karate West, I love what we stand for....personal achievement. Karate West has made all the difference in my life and in the lives of all of our students, families, and community! more

My son took classes at Karate West and loved it. The teachers are fantastic, and the life skills they teach there are invaluable. My son also learned ""stranger danger"", which teaches what to do if a stranger approaches or grabs him. Very important for kids today to know! I loved the fact that my son's schoolwork and behavior were also an integrated aspect for moving to a higher belt. This school is the best around! more

We found Karate West through some friends when my son was 8 yrs old. He immediately fell in love with the art, I fell in love with the place and within a months? time, BOTH he and I were students. He earned his black belt at age 13, and I earned mine at age 42! My son continued to train until he left for college and I continue to this day. The art is ingrained in our lifestyle, and Karate West is truly a second home with a very large and very special extended family. I knew it was worth every dime, every mile I drove, and every minute I spent at Karate West when my then 15 yr. old son told me that the peer pressure around him did not sway him; he felt no need to prove anything since he got his black belt. He is kind, smart, dedicated, a good friend, honorable and a leader; all qualities that are continually taught at Karate West. I would recommend Karate West, the instructors, the students and this experience to anyone be they young, old, male, female, athletic, and yes, even the non-athletic. Karate West is a great place for families to train in the martial arts. For our children, who both started training when they were little, Karate West taught more than just karate moves. They learned important life skills that reinforced what we were trying to teach them at home, including respect, hard work, perseverance and the value of a good education. They also learned effective self defense techniques as well as how to deal with bullying in school. For my wife and I, we greatly improved our fitness and appreciate the stress relief that martial arts training provides. Karate West is terrific member of our Eastside community, providing free self defense workshops for women and children in local schools and churches and regularly participating in local, national and international charity efforts. more

Now that my child is a Blackbelt, I can tell you that many of his school study habits were learned at Karate West! They focus on ""life skills"" and these skills helped him to be a better listener, taught him where to sit in class, and to always do ""optional"" homework! They even gave him a scholarship for college! The scholarship program is currently offered to all active black belts with a high GPA! THANK YOU KARATE WEST! more

Karate West has a very friendly and professional staff that make you feel at home. The boys I nanny for have learned goal setting,focus, discipline, and responsibility. As a nanny I'm impressed that the boys are learning so much more than karate! more

My children and I have all been training at Karate West for years now. It has become our second home and extended family. The staff at the school are truly exceptional. Along with being very talented martial artists, they are exceptional instructors. They absolutely care about each of their students and are always professional and kind. They expect the most from the students and know how to bring it out in a fun and exciting environment. The facilities are also beautiful. I started looking for a place to train as I was looking to get into better shape and I was always interested in martial arts. The training was both fun and effective and soon my daughter was also hooked. We have trained for several years and continue to learn and progress. We love the team and the community spirit at Karate West and couldn't think about going anywhere else. It is a great place to be for the whole family. We started off looking for the best karate school for our daughters and after much research and recommendations from others, we all enrolled at Karate West. Everyone was right and our expectations were exceeded. The girls learned how to protect themselves, be confident in themselves and their abilities, not react to peer pressure as well as take pride in their accomplishments.
