Kaelin's Claim to Have Discovered the Cheeseburger! 3/27/2006

Kaelin's is a unique little restauraunt in Louisville. The building itself is a little scary and you're likely to be dining with "blue haireds" but the food is homestyle. I have it on good authority that the cheeseburger was originated here at Kaelin's. The food is good, the prices are good, its worth a try! more

    If you're under age 50, you'll be in the minority. Plenty of customers have been coming since the restaurant's opening in 1934. Most young people just haven't gotten cool enough to come here yet. It's cozy, with exceptionally nice servers who treat newcomers like regulars.

    The Food
    This Highlands eatery serves up delicious American comfort food like roast beef and mashed potatoes, fried chicken and barbecue pork sandwiches. The specialty of the house is the cheeseburger: a medium-sized beef patty topped with a slice of American cheese and all of the trimmings tucked into a buttery toasted bun. It's one of the best burgers around. For the ultimate in comfort and indulgence get the cheeseburger platter with crispy fries and creamy coleslaw, and order a chocolate shake to wash it down.
