Ok Service, Tasty Food 10/6/2011

As freddyfoofoo stated, don't come here with a big group. If you are looking for a nice, ambient atmosphere and some tasty morsels to share with a date or a small group, then this place is promising. I've come here with my sister and husband. One time, though, a few of my coworkers and I came for sushi and sake and the waiters seemed confused and overwhelmed. Our order was mixed up and we were overcharged. I didn't expect five star service but any place should know how to handle a mature group of 13 ppl!!! My only suggestion to the manager: Have more competent staff!!! more

worst service in a long time 12/20/2010

The sushi was decent. The food was ok. The service was terrible. We were a party of 7. I and my friend sthowed up 10 minutes after the first 4. It took them 10 minutes to get my drink order and another 10 minutes to serve it. The last of our party showed up 10 minutes later. We had to catch the waiter to take his drink order, and then he forgot to sierve it. The sushi appetizers showed up sporadically. He took our order and failed to deliver one of the orders. He delivered the first entree and then thee rest of our food 10 minutes later (minus 1). The first entree was cold by then. Thne We had to ask him to remove the sushi related plates to make room for our food. When asked about the missed entree, he seemed unconcerned. This was at 11:30 in the am. They were not that busy. I won't be back. If this represents their level of service, they will be out of business soon. I do NOT recommend this place. Go to Nina (north phx) or Kona (Chandler) more

Exceptional Experience! 8/26/2008

My husband I have visited Kabuki Japanese Restaurant in Tempe Market Place last Saturday for the first time. I have never seen this kind of decor put up in a restaurant unless we dine out to Scottsdale.'\r Although we have waited about 20 minutes for a table in a fully occupied restaurant, the hostess was consistently informing of the wait time and exceptionally friendly. The server was also another addition to our great experience for being very knowledgeable of the whole menu and recommending our entree, Chilean Seabass, except for being a little loud when it comes to screaming out, ""irrashai.' After finishing our meal, I have a very interesting talk with the manager on duty. He even spelled out the screaming phrase correctly. He stated that it is Japanese and Kabuki's tradition to say this phrase when greeting customers. Overall, it was fun and valuable experience. Pros: Very Friendly from All Staffs Cons: Wait Time of 20 Minutes in a Fully Occupied Restaurant more

Dinner to rememeber 7/4/2008

I would like to turn this comment over to a much appreciated thank you letter to Kabuki for the remarkable experience we had tonight. Besides being amazed with the quality of the dish and the beautiful presentation, the service that we received was absolutely astonishing. My wife and I were walking around Tempe Marketplace for the first time and we decided that we would give Kabuki a try for the first time. We were first intimidated by the elegant design of the restaurant but the once we were approached by a lovely hostess, we automatically felt the warmth hospitality. For the first time in our lives, being married for nearly 18 years, the service was outstanding from the very beginning to the very end. Thank you Kabuki more

Terrible customer service 6/28/2008

We arrived as a party of 5 to celebrate a friends birthday. We had an 8:30pm reservation and still had to wait 15 minutes for our table to be ready. Next our waiter kept messing up our orders and completely neglected every detail.\r \r We ordered our food without cucumber due to a food allergy. When the food came out with cucumber the waiter sent his manager to correct the mistake and our order was not replaced. When trying to find out what went wrong the General manager and Manager were not helpful and completely rude. They did not even apologize for the mistake.\r \r I do not recommend this place to anyone looking for decent customer service. Pros: Location, Ambience Cons: Poor customer service, rude management, long waits for reservations more

BillyT911; write what really happened! 1/16/2008

Take everything this guy wrote and reverse it. He was praising the restaurant saying how great the food, ambience and service were. Second, those who were in the area said noting bad of other restaurants as he stated. He came over and shook hands with the manager thanking him. It was only when a bartender informed him the restaurant was closed did he get belligerent towards the manager and staff. The bartender was even calling a cab for him. Upon leaving the restaurant, the Tempe police who was already patroling the shopping center, had to physically remove him from the premises because he continued to be aggressive. He's flipping everything. more
