K & I Diner

I first ordered a glass of water. The glass itself was dirty and I could see sediment floating inside the water. I ordered the carne adobada plate and at the first bite I had noticed that the meat was old. After having taken a few bites I noticed the cooks and the man who served me the drink giggling and looking my way and I became suspicious about their enthusiasm. I decided to inspect a dark object imbedded in the carne. After taking a close look I became aware that I was a dead fly. After feeling the wave of disgust and began to gag I called over the waitress to let her know what I had found. I got up and made my way out of the diner only to commence regurgitating outside. I went home sick and took a fleet flushing laxative with plenty of water. I haven't eaten since. more

We went to K & I Diner for the first time today, I have lived in Albuquerque all my life and have heard about it and was looking foward to finaly getting there. After getting a table and getting our drinks, we placed our order and waited, and waited, and waited.. Twenty five minutes later our food was up and there it sat, several waitresess pulled it foward to see if it was their ticket and pushed it back( this happened a few times), encluding OUR waitress who got into the pick up line a couple of times, I kept thinking she was going to get our food, but did not! instead she took the orders of two new tables and walked the room?? After 30 + minutes we paid for our drinks and left.. Very hungry!! Unfortunatly I think the food may have been good. Gotta get the food to the table to find out!! more

The Travis: Burrito covered with French Fries, onions (optional) and cheese. It is the signature dish. It comes in a 1/4, 1/2 and ""full."" I never dared to attempt to eat a full travis. \r \r I have left ABQ, but the K&I is among my favorite places for New Mexico nostalgia eats.\r \r more

Grandma's is reminicent of an old truck stop. Great food (and plenty of it), great price and great service. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. Try not to go between noon and 12:30. You may not find a parking place. Its REALLY a great place to eat. Pros: Inexpensive, Lots of good food, Servers are friendly Cons: , Crowded around noon more
