Raceist Restaurant 8/1/2009

The wait staff needs sensitivity training in regard to the white community. I really felt there was an atmosphere of reverse discrimination and it appeared to be prejudice towards caucasions as demonstrated by lack of a sincere expressions of gratitude and eye contact. The waiters who were predomently black , seemed to give preferential attention and service to patrons of color as observed by exceedingly expiditious sevice and larger portions. Unfortunatly this gave me a very uncomfortable dining expirence. Pros: Comprehensive Menu to Please All ! Cons: Ethnic disparages of staff members. more

Best cheesecake on the planet 7/14/2009

I very seldomly occasionally eat at this Juniors. Kinda far from my house. A long train ride will take me here, but it's worth it for the cheesecake. Excellent service. but employees there do expect a large tip. Not cool. Many people I know eat here and a group of people introduced me into this place. This juniors has been around a while. Right near Fulton Mall. Pros: Excellent Pastries and Burgers Cons: Alittle bit expensive more

Just eat the cheesecake!!!! 6/1/2009

I went to Juniors on Sunday. Basically, the food sucked. I had the corned beef sandwich. I was sure that this would be good because it's a Jewish spot. Not! The corned beef was dry and flimsy rye bread. I am definitely jonesing for Weinsteins Deli that closed in Lawrence, NJ. My companions said the spare ribs were dry and horrible. The macaroni was definitely Easy Mac. Go someplace else for dinner and stop and get the cheesecake for dessert. Pros: The Cheesecake Cons: The Lousy Food more

The food is nothing to write home about. But, the cheese cake is to die for. 3/10/2009

I love the cheese cake. I live in Virginia. I get them shipped all the time more

Great Place for pastries 12/8/2008

Great food good customer service. I went with the family. Very little wait time. Clean bathrooms. Parking posed a little problem. Pros: Cheese Cake was great Cons: parking more

Forget the pastries 12/1/2008

I had the soup and sandwich combo in November as I sat at the counter. Great throwback atmosphere. Fantastic food. I don't eat pastries and do not see the thing in cheesecake. However, great visit to a great place. Pros: Large portions Cons: Bit pricey more

tip charged twice 8/30/2008

Yesterday I was at Junior's at West 45th st betwen Broadway and 8th Ave. The service was a mess! Despite that I gave a 20% tip in cash and paid the bill with my credit card. For my surprise when I checked my credit card statement the tip has been charged again. Another 15%! SO PAY ATTENTION TO SMART WAITERS! more

wow 3/16/2008

You have to taste the cheesecake to believe it. I went to Juniors for the first time while in Brooklyn a few weeks ago. I got the original, plain cheesecake- I figured that was the best way to judge if the place was as good as I had heard. Well, I was not disappointed- I am pretty picky when it comes to cheesecake, but this was the best one I had ever had. I can't wait to go again and try some other kinds- they sounded delicious. Pros: Fantastic cheesecake, cool historic atmosphere more

find your favorite and make it the regular 2/20/2008

Ahhhh Juniors. The first time I went to Juniors it was strictly for the cheesecake. The first time I had the Strawberry. Now that I have gone a few times it is always the pumpkin. I must say, not all of the at juniors is good. i had to try many things before i found one that i stick to. Now whenever i go i get the half roast chicken. it comes with spanish rice and this mushroom gravy which i ask for a whole bowl of. its the chicken and gravy that has me feigning for juniors. all i must say is find your favorite and stick to it. otherwise its not all its cracked up to be....its just a great historic place to dine. more

great menu, excellent dessert 9/9/2007

No matter where you are from you must already know about Juniors so I suppose that I do not have to say much. The food is unfailingly good. I have two favorite waiters who I will not disclose their names because Im selfish. The desserts are magnificant. The service is good. The drinks are good. You must go! Pros: great food, good service, good dessert and did I say great food? Cons: can get really crowded more

Two Words: Good Food 3/6/2007

The ""imperialtraveler"" needs to chill. Juniors food is off the hook. I would recommend it to any one! And there cheesecake is AW ESOME!!! Pros: Great Food Cons: Kind of expensive more

Don't believe the hype! Junior's is nothing to write home about! 3/4/2007

Ok, so I've been to Brooklyn so many times, I've stopped counting. I've been to Junior's only thrice in all of those visits. Why? Because the food is not good! I don't know how they earned their rep for being the ""best cheesecake in town"" because I've tasted better. NEVER and I repeat NEVER get their water! It tastes horrible, but I should have known that beforehand. It's NY for goodness sakes! The atmosphere of the place in not one to relax and take in. It's a busy deli/diner type eatery and the waitstaff is less than enthusiastic to serve you. Junior's makes money off their reputation, not their food. I'd skip them and find another establishment worthy of your dining dollars. Pros: It's NY and you can see Manhattan if you look out the window and to your right Cons: Food, Atmosphere, Service, need I say more? more

Juniors is an institution 1/16/2007

so if you don't get that, don't go. I have been coming here with my family since I was a kid and I still love it.\r Now I bring my boyfriend who is from London -- we both cook, we both appreciate great food (from fish and chips to the fanciest fare) and he loves it too.\r I agree that over the years I have had better cheesecake (even learned to make one) but it is still a lovely cheesecake. And how about the pickles, coleslaw, beets and cornbread at the table even before you order?\r The tunafish and brisket sandwiches are outstanding, the strawberry shortcake is criminal and they actually make some decent coffee. All of the trappings for a great diner/coffee shop that happens to have a real NY history. So why would you order (as did one disgruntled reviewer) a T-Bone and a lobster at a diner?\r And to the reviewer who found the portions to be unfulfilling - where are you from? We usually can't move by the time we are done eating here. Juniors is what it is and it is absolutely worth a visit. Or ten. more

OVERPRICED CHEESECAKE that can't live up to its name! 1/10/2007

This place is way over rated and a HUGE tourist trap. I just moved to NYC and a friend told me if I wanted the ""best"" cheesecake in the nation, to have a juniors cheesecake. I took her up on her offer and to my surprise it was not as good as it's reputation. Let me say that I have traveled all over and have had amazing cheesecake from the west coast, europe and even the south. Juniors Cheesecake is a fair comparison to the cheesecake you would get at Red Lobster. Who cares if P Ditty liked it, that doesn't say anything. Just a way for this company to market and raise their prices. For the price this place charges, BUYER BEWARE, a COMPLETE rip off. I HIGHLY recommend ""Atlanta Cheesecake Company"" in Georgia for EXCELLENT cheesecake. Don't take my word for it, order some and dispute me. But do yourself a favor and stay away from this overpriced joint, filled with people everywhere. Pros: None really, it's a diner in downtown Brooklyn! Cons: the cheesecake and their prices more

Another NY ICON 11/3/2006

You cannot come to NY and not go to Juniors. They hold up to their reputation but it is just a diner. Aren't all diners great though?- Decent food, decent service more

just go for the cheesecake 10/26/2006

i've ordered their chessecake plenty of times and had a meal there only once. their food is mediocre at best but i always go back for their cheesecake. not even worth a sit down, just get it to go. Pros: really good cheesecake Cons: average food more

Disgusting food, horrible service, one of the worst dining experience 8/24/2006

How can this place rated at 8.8 (as of 8/25/06)?????? My friends and I had one of the worst dining experience!!!\r \r First of all, the food is overpriced, we are talking about $32 for a T-bone steak at a diner. We asked for medium-rare, and the steak ends up being welldone. You can taste the meat being inappropriately defrosted using a microwave, which gives that soggy texture and the meat is tasteless. The $14 lobster tail is also disappointing as it reminds me of the heated up food from frozen dinner. Burgers look good at first sight as it was a big 10 oz slice of meat. However, the meat is so tasteless and stale. Only the steakfries were good.\r \r The worst come the FRENCH ONION SOUP!!! You can tell the chef is really trying to make it fancy, but it is just like a cup of concentrated soy sauce with onions and soaked bread floating, with a piece of mozzarella cheese having a rubberish texture.\r \r The kid who served our table was air-headed. He took our order without asking how we want our steak to be cooked or which style of cooking we want for the lobster. Totally forgot our drinks and the soup we ordered (afterall, we wish he forgot all those orders given the quality of the food). Also placed a hot plate of soup with the center of gravity barely over the edge of our table, at a metastable state, and says ""yeh...it should stay..."".\r \r Sorry for all of you who voted more than a 5 for this place. You have a Third-World standard for dining. I give it a ""1"", for the decorations. Pros: Decorations Cons: Food, Service, Parking more

tourist trap 6/23/2006

Overrated. Tourist trap. Unfulfilling portions of decent food, but not good enough to be worth the exorbitant price. The hostess was nasty and presumptous. Even the cheesecake was not the best I've ever had. The waitresses were pleasant, but I can't think of anything else good to say about my experiences at Junior's. Pros: crowded, noisy, below-average food Cons: you can tell people you've been to junior's more
