I used to walk by this salon many times along Mass Ave and wonder what it was like. I finally decided to try it last fall and get a hair cut there. The lady who cut my hair was ...

Linda actually listens 3/2/2010

Linda is fantastic! For the first time in my life a stylist actually gave me practical tips that helped me keep my hair in great shape. Her suggestions were so simple and realistic. I'm ashamed to say that because I followed her tips and got way less split ends, it's now been almost a year since I've seen her! Linda is the person to go to for frizzy, curly hair. Pros: incredible value more

Excellent cut, Danielle is awesome!!! 10/9/2009

I've been going to Judy Jetson for over a year now, and I love the way Danielle cuts my hair. She's a bundle of energy, and is a lot of fun to talk to while she works her magic. Before I came to JJ, I was getting my hair cut at a place in Kendall Square. The cuts were ""ok"", but each time I told the stylist that I wanted something different and that she could feel free to do whatever she wanted, as long as the cut was ultra-low maintenance and worked with my wavy hair... and they'd go right into giving me the exact same cut I came in with: a layered cut that was nearly shoulder-length that only looked good when blow-dried straight (that is not ultra-low maintenance, and my hair never looked good after the first day!!!). When I first went to Danielle, I told her the same thing. She thought about it for a bit, and then told me what she thought. I walked out with a ""super-cute"" (Danielle's words and I agree!) chin-length bob that looked vaguely flapperish, and couldn't have been happier with the results. I highly recommend JJ (and Danielle). If you're turned off by no frills surroundings, though, it may not be for you. Pros: great cut, fun atmosphere, no frills more

not impressed!! and uncomfortable 7/31/2008

This was the first and last time for me going to the Judy Jetson salon. It was an uncomfortable atmosphere - the stylists were only talking to each other. My stylist was not one for chatting - I don't think he asked me one question. I like when my stylists offer suggestions on what may look good for future cuts or what would work best for my hair, but there was none of that. My stylist seemed bored and distracted. I'm not sure what the other stylists are like, but the one I had (and I'm sorry - I didn't even catch his name) was a one star at best. I don't like my cut and feel I overpaid for the void of service. This salon was a no-go for me. Pros: sorry - but none Cons: uncomforable experience - not at all inviting more

Moureen knows color 3/11/2008

I have been going to JJ for about 2 years now and wanted to let people know that if you want someone that is down to earth and understands color and skin tone then I recommend Moureen at JJ. She looked at a color that I was receiving at a salon on Newbury and ask if she could change it a bit.... A subtle change made all the difference and I have never received more compliments on my color and cut. I highly recommend her. And for parking, park in Porter square and enjoy a nice 3 block walk to the salon. Pros: Great staff more

Linda Chehab is awesome 11/4/2007

I went to Linda Chehab at Judy Jetson hair salon and was rewarded with the best cut of my life. I have curly hair but the type that culrs differently all over and it is frizzy all the time. Thanks to some of the reviews i read, I was able to decide who to see...Linda was wonderful. She listened to my concerns, got to know a little about me, Asked a lot of questions and was also very funny. When she was done with my cut, she asked if i had any concerns and i did and she was able to address them right away and told me I need to educate her about what i like and dont because curly hair is never the same twice. I am surprised to read that (tools for School) was unhappy.Seems like a whole different person than the Linda I had cut my hair. After my haircut,Linda assured me that she wanted the haircut to work for me outside the salon and was very admanant that i call if i were for any reason not a %100 happy. Ofcourse i did not need to call because the cut was great. I suggest you talk to her a lot and let her know what you want and dont want and not be hesitant to voice your concerns because she is very flexible and will address any issues you may have...AS for me, I found my hairdresser and I no longer have to worry about that. The salon itself can be a little intimidating and the stylists all tend to talk to each other and involve the clients witht he conversation which i think is great because it gives you the feeling of belonging...It is definitely not the place to go if you are looking to get your behind kissed but it is definitely the place to go for a good laugh and fun down to earth atmosphere and out of this world haircuts. And as Linda says, if u r not %100 happy right away, talk to her next time more about what u want and let her know what did not work for u.So with a guarantee like that,i say, if ur haircut was not terrible and just okay, go back and let her know you more.Trust me, she rocks Pros: Great haircut, down to earth stylist and flexible Cons: not enough parking, plan extra time for that more

Too cool for school 9/4/2007

I have long curly hair and am happy to pay a lot and go out of the way to get a good cut. I went to Judy Jetson because a few curly-headed women I know all got great haircuts there, all from different stylists. I called and requested a stylist who is good with curly hair, and got an appointment with Linda Chehab. I asked her to give it more body in the back and a few short pieces in the front. I also said if she had suggestions I was open to them, as I was simply sick of my long hair and wanted something more flattering. I'm fairly certain she barely listened. The haircut is OK, but I already had an OK haircut. It comes with the same maintenance problems I was trying to get rid of. What really turned me off to this salon was the atmosphere and attitude within it. I had my short, peremptory consulation *after* I had already had my hair washed because Linda was busy--with curly hair you really need to consult beforehand because a stylist needs to see the shape and type of curl. Also, the water was cold when my hair was washed and the woman never asked about the temperature. Pros: Solid haircut Cons: Ridiculous attitude, didn't listen, cold shampoo more

I love Judy Jetson! 7/3/2007

I go to Linda Kirk and her cuts are great. I have very short hair and have always found that if you don't get a good cut, it will grow in badly. Not a problem with Linda. I also get my 3 year old daughter's hair cut by Linda and she does a great job. Everyone in the salon is very friendly and the atmosphere is very funky. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Not cheap more

Linda C.'s talent is beyond exceptional 6/18/2007

I have long hair with long layers/bangs that I love... I honestly can say that I LOVE my hair now... All because of Linda Chehab at Judy Jetson salon. She is the most talented stylist I have ever experienced. Going there for a cut is the best decision I have ever made. At first I was recommended to another stylist, and because she was unavailable, I was set up with Linda. I was pleasantly surprised by how accurately she ""got"" my hair and what would make it work... I had been trying to get other stylists to do the same style for years! and after only a few exchanges (well, she sits you down and has you tell all...), she got it right! She cut it so well that after 3 months it still looked great! I went in today afraid of losing that ""grown-in"" look and I came out even happier then I was the first time! The ease with which she gets it right is shocking.. She effortlessly cuts away and then there it is...the ever-desired perfect cut. Yes, I will admit that there are no frills at this salon.. They don't massage your scalp and serve you tea, but the stylists are talented, and isn't that what counts? If you need pampered, don't go here, but if you are looking for a new style and want to walk away from the salon happy and then be even happier when you get home and look in the mirror, try Linda C. (in the window) at Judy Jetson.. I gaurantee you will be happy... Thanks Linda!!! Pros: My stylist Linda C, Price (only $48!!!), Convo. Cons: No Pampering. more

Go see Tracey 6/18/2007

I go to Judy Jetson's and have been going for about 6 years. My wife also goes and we both see Tracey. She is a great cutter and my wife also gets hilights. We are always very happy with the results. Tracey is creative, a great listener (especially when I don't know what I am talking about), really great when we bring our kids and funny to boot. We wouldn't go see anyone else. She lives far away and if she ever leaves we both will follow her. Pros: hip atmosphere, friendly stylist, fun conversation Cons: parking is difficult more

UPDATE: Tragic results for thick/curly hair 6/4/2007

UPDATE: It's Christmas, and the bird's nest I got at Judy Jetson in May has finally grown out. And by the way, the stylist who wrecked my hair is one of the ones so highly recommended in one of the most recent reviews (Linda C, by the window). Buyer beware! Pros: Fun atmosphere, great location Cons: Truly awful haircut more

Tarley is awesome! 5/17/2007

No lie, she knows how to cut hair. I think I just got one of the best cuts I've ever had in my life. I will go to no one else. She was referred to me by 2 other people so I'm thinking I've found the right stylist. Pros: Skilled Stylists Cons: Expensive more

Crazy salon, best haircut ever - see Tarley! 5/10/2007

The atmosphere can be a little overwhelming with the stylists competing to be the loudest, but I get my hair done by Tarley and she rocks! She is consistently good and listens to what I want and gives me great tips on how to recreate the look on my own and she does it without any attitude. Pros: Easy to get to from the T or to park at. more

Finally a Great Cut 5/10/2007

I an awesome hair cut and get this every time with FERI! ... But if you want cheery, cozy, cuddly....um, not here. (JJ stylists in general have an attitude.) Pros: Cutting Skill, Interest in experimental styling Cons: A little holier-than-thou atmosphere; parking more

My choice for years! 1/17/2007

I'm picky, and have very tricky hair. Ever since I've been going to Maureen at Judy Jetson (probably around 4 years now), not only am I happy, but I get compliments on my hair ALL the time. This goes for both cut and color. She's helped me through some tough grow out phases, and successfully dyed my highlighted hair to match my brown roots -- which I wouldn't have thought possible after so many previous failed attempts with other stylists to get back to my natural color. The salon itself is relaxed and fun, and even though it's celebrated amongst local hipsters, the less adventurous shouldn't be intimidated -- I've seen all types walk out happy. Pros: Hip -- but not *too* hip, great location, good selection of products Cons: Not exactly cheap -- but compare it to Newbury Street prices and you'll never complain. more

$275 for color & haircut--my nightmare experience 11/10/2006

$275, that's what Feri charged after she colored and cut my hair. I was dumbfounded because it had been $160 the first time & she'd said the price decreased with each visit. What was different? She used 2 colors instead of one. Also the results--no two colors could be seen ,but there was half a head of broken off frizz in front. after two days Cons: skills lacking, salon less than clean, no parking for 5 blocks, severely overcharged more

Best cut ever! 6/15/2006

I went to Judy Jetson Inc a couple of weeks ago, and had my hair done by Danielle. I love the cut. Danielle was really nice and great to talk to. She gave me honest advice and tips, which I appreciate very much. I will keep going back. more

Pros: Great Music, Great Fun, Good looking people more

It Was More than a Bad Hair Day 10/31/2005

I was very suprised to see the lack of respect for clients at this salon. I asked for a trim and i got shaved. The staff was terribly un-friendly and all thought that they were the best hair-dressers ever. Terrible....Terrible....Terrible! Cons: Everything more
